Honestly, we have this rule because we have such a small compliance group that has to do quarterly reviews of everyones trades. Our Investment team used to trade a shit ton and overwhelm the group all the time, so they slammed the whole firm with this rule to slow it down. It's complete horseshit and most of us made our opinions known when they instituted it, and yet here we are.

Further to that, it just forces me to be much more selective with what I buy....

Man very glad I didn't sell off 1/3 of OCZ for profits at $6. Now I guess, I'll just hold fast and see what comes. These jumps in pre-market makes this game hard to play, there's no time to jump in. Who gets access to pre-market trades?

I do...I just use Ameritrade.

I thought there would be an opportunity to purchase more of OCZ this morning and expected this jump to happen on Monday. I incorrectly thought today would be a repeat of yesterday.

Haven't been following this thread in a while. So what's the consensus on OCZ buyout price if it's true?

I had actually bought on a gamble about 30 of the $5 Jan 2014 option contracts averaged in at around $2/contact over the last few months. I planned on holding it through the rest of this year to see what comes of it though if it spikes past 8, I may just take my money and run.

My other "gamble" which I mentioned prob in one of the earlier pages of this thread was MCZ... I have about 40,000 shares averaged in at about .5/share. I'm probably holding this long term or until it breaks a dollar.

Two days ago, Institutions owned 80% of OCZ.

Yesterday had that bear rally that shorted the stock to bring prices down and force sell those with stop limits. The resulting sharp price drop involved a large volume of shares being bought.

Today, institutions own 85% of OCZ.

Sounds like market manipulation to me, in a very collusive manner. But again, it's capitalism at its finest in what is a rather unregulated market. It will make certain people very rich, and bring the rest of the world to its knees. Working as intended, right?

I would argue that it is a lot of trade desk giving color to their better clients.

I just sold my 1885 shares of OCZ at $7.00.
Not sure if it was the best move but I am glad to have the increase since putting it in yesterday.

'grats chusteczka :)

This game's all about making money.

So far I have been all in and all out. I need to start following your example of having a core amount that stays in, with a smaller amount to play the $.50 swings each day.

I often have similar thoughts.

My strategy is good if you're trying to invest + trade.

All in is great for trading, as long as you have the discipline to cut losses and take gains (I didn't when I traded AMD and got hurt bad -- but I was only using a small part of trading capital).

Lol. Ocz @ $8.50.

Yes, I am going to have a heart attack before this night is through watching as that price continues rising, considering I just sold as the run up was starting. (Just kidding though but it sure hurts.)

My cautious side worries that everything is happening too neatly. Enthusiasm continues to grow over rumors. Who knows what will happen by Monday morning? The rumors could be proven true or false just as easily. This is why I have sold these past two Friday afternoons. I fear the possibility of bad news over the weekend. Although, I have no justification for my fear except for rumors.

But then institutional buying shows that something is happening.

And in reflection, today was just like yesterday. The price started high, dropped low for volume, then rose again. And now it continues to rise...

They're probably intentionally leaked to bring the PPS up so that the premium doesn't look exorbitant come Monday.

Wow... this is starting to smell highly suspicious on an almost surreal level. It's either pump'n'dump or insider trading on a ridiculous scale at this level. /tinfoilhat

More buyout talks... rumor is that 1B is on the table for the OCZ buyout.

I imagine there will be more days ahead for spikes upward... esp if the offer is true. 1B would mean what, 15/share?
