Due to the sacred records that are tied to 162 games, shortening the season will never happen. The 1 game play-in doesn't lengthen the season at all, so it's the best solution without shortening the regular season or lengthening the playoffs.

The season was 154 games from 1920-1961. I would think cutting it back to 158 is doable until the bean counters come into the meeting and point out all the lost revenue from losing 4 games.

I'd prefer a longer regular season and a shorter post season. I'm glad they have fewer off-days this post season. Now if they could only get rid of that stupid one-game wild card bullshit.

We'll have to see what happens, but I do like the idea that a one game playoff will give you a slight disadvantage going into your divisional series. Baltimore and STL both lost their first game.
 
Well not a great start for the Bay Area teams 🙁 - I'm fairly confident we won't be seeing a Battle of Bay World Series this year.

I've always wondered why staying in the base path is thrown out the window when it comes to a tag at home? How far from home can a runner wander to avoid the tag?

Not sure how far they can go out of the baseline on that, I think people have been called out for going way out but what Ichiro did was legal. Crazy.

He wasn't really out of the baseline, just over ran the plate.

You don't see it often but guys are always being told to go back and touch a base after over running it so I don't see it being a problem.

The Yankees have to re-sign this guy for next year. He's just epic!
