Closed out my position in Apple this week, bought a share of BRK.A just to have somewhere to put the $$$ for a while and not worry to much.

What made you close out Apple? I have no doubt that it will go higher, possibly >$400, even if it is mostly hype.

I'll likely buy it back later, it's taken a pretty good hit, was in @ 330, sold @ 363, it's currently 350 and still dropping. None of the fundamentals changed, except people are realizing that Jobs really is sick and will likely not be around forever. Apple is a massively manipulated (and held) stock, so I play the psychology of the market as well as the fundamentals.

"Family Day" for the TSX, so first time since Christmas that both the U.S. markets and TSX closed simultaneously.

Been checking up on some old prospects. TGT is going to hell right now and approaching 52-week low, and should be reporting Wednesday or Thursday. May be a great buy opportunity coming up.

KABOOM!!!

I'm so in the shitter today that I'm laughing and almost care-free. I don't even know how bad it's doing right now. Time to hold.

I did pick up some C and sold my V (profit, just smaller profit) and bought AXP with that. V is slow, should have put my money into MA after the debit card fee limit thing.

Down huge today. Bought AAPL few weeks back when it was around $338. Went up decently and now in 2 days it's back down to what I bought in at. F.

I wouldn't worry too much. These knee-jerk reactions last a few days before fully recovering if Egypt and North Korea were any indication. I can't believe Libya, of all places, actually crashed the markets, and 8 days after it began. Bla bla, uncertainty and representative of the Middle East as a whole.

I tried to keep some cash on the side in case this happened again, but woops, got greedy and put it all in before.

Just wait until the government shutdown next week. All those delayed Social Security, Veterans, government employee and contractor checks will wreak havoc on the economy. :(

I told you guys a 20% correction was comming this year - or worse! $4+ dollars a gallon gas anyone (again)?

The government won't shut down and I doubt there'll be a 20% correction. Futures are up this evening.

looks like another semi-big down day today.

Yep. I don't know why I didn't pull more of my money out. Oh well, still have a couple Gs buffer between earnings and principle, I'll ride it for a bit. F is getting fucked in the ass.

Their P/E is below 10 and we're still crawling out of a recession, so it "should" eventually get back up to the post-earnings price of about $16-$17-ish. I'm just concerned about how long that will take, and what the opportunity cost will be.

I am happy and upset at the same time. I pulled out 20% a few days ago to move it into some other investments and was too lazy to get around to putting it back in, but at the same time my current holdings are getting annihilated. If it weren't for the Oil stock gains the Dow would be down 300 pts, not the 100+ pts it is right now.

yeah, but back up to $16-$17 is not enough right, that's were everyone got in at, so you're right, even if it does get back to up $16-$17 levels, the opportunity cost is the issue, boo! :(

I'm just bending over and adding lube. Nothing I can do about it except thank the geniuses pulling all their money out in bulk. I have no oil because I didn't think Chevron, Exxon et al could actually continue their upward trend for a year straight.

Surprisingly, my Canadian investments are standing moderately firm. Barely losing on them.

Question about Trailing stop order.

Are they usually placed when I purchase the stock, or is that a separate order.

Times like the past 2 days are really annoying, because it convinces you that you can time the market to sell before the downswing and buy back in at the bottom. Every time I see my profits swell I consider selling some to lock it in, but never do and this ends up happening. Oh well, I track my performance vs the S&P 500 and right now I'm doing about 30% better over the last year. The day I can't beat it is the day I stop choosing my own investments.
