Yesterday was definitely bad for the Cards, but it ain't over. 2 GB, 6 games to go. I seem to recall some team that blew a 3 game lead with 4 to go just a few years ago...:$

Red Sox fans and sports radio here are complaining about the Yankees sending out their AAA team last night. Although we wouldn't have gotten 15 runs if they hadn't, I still think Matt Moore would've shut them down.

The only game that really bothered me was the one Shields pitched. The Rays should've scored more against the myriad of Yankees relievers. We need to do a better job hitting during the next 6 games esp. since we're at home.

It's doable, but I just don't think it'll happen. Any time I think the Cards will make a run, their bullpen blows it. Just too unreliable and Atlanta is simply slumping right now but their bullpen and starting pitching (somewhat) is better than St.L. If St.L gets in it won't be because they have more talent in the pitching dept.

Tampa, I like their chances. Damon's moonshot last night, holy sht did you see that? And he golfed it too... that was great.

You're probably right about that. The Joe Girardi/Kevin Long combination has always been absolutely abysmal against pitchers they've either never faced or only faced a couple of times.

Well, duh. The Yankees have a team era of < 3 against the Rays whereas it's nearly 6 against the Sox. Of course they'd prefer to meet TB in the playoffs. That being said, the blowhards need to lay the blame on the correct people and it isn't the Yankees. It's the team that's gone 5-16 this month.

The divisions are now settled with the Brewers, Dbacks and Rangers clinching. Sawx and Braves are holding on to their small leads in the wild card races.

It's pretty much over at this point, the Sox and Braves will get the WCs. Hopefully they can take it down to the wire, though.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are uncorking on Lester.

Maybe the Yankees are finally starting to hit a bit.

That said, Granderson and Teixiera need to be moved down in th order.

Sure about that? With the way Boston is collapsing, it ain't over yet. If Boston loses both games tomorrow, and the Rays win, there's a tie in the AL WC with three games left for each team. Granted the Rays have the Yankees and Boston is at Baltimore, but the O's have been playing some good baseball. I wouldn't say anything is settled until all 162 games have been played.

mets sweep doubleheader from phillies, who would have thought that possible!!

Phils haven't been scoring much lately. As for the Mets ...well..they stink. lol I'm amazed they won a game at home. I love RA Dickey though and wish he would pitch the final game of the season instead of Miguel Batista. Wednesday could also be the last day Reyes is in a Mets uniform so I'm sure he'll get some big reactions from what will probably be a small crowd for the afternoon game.

No, I'm not sure. That was my opinion. Fortunately, the things I say on an internet forum don't really matter to the world of baseball.

Rays within 1/2 game pending the 2nd half of the doubleheader tonight. Cards within 1 if they can hold on, 3-2 in the 8th.

Tonight's double heard should be interesting as Tampa just beat Toronto to pull within half a game of Boston. And Boston is riding a four-game losing streak.

I sure hope Tampa doesn't make it.

after tonight's game, BoSox fans will be cheering for the Yankees. 😀

I'd love to see the Rays or Cards get in; preferably the Cards but it was less than a month ago everybody was moaning about how there were no playoff races this season.

TBH at this point it almost looks like the sox are trying to lose

even if they make the post season i don't see then winning a game, FFS i think i could do a better job pitching at this point

Maybe we see a 163rd game this year. I can see the rays and sox both eeking out a win in the next 3 days. Would be interesting to see, though I suspect the rays would pound boston.

Angels blew a chance to possibly be 1 back of the Sox/Rays tonight. Gave up 4 in the ninth to lose 6-5. So they're pretty much done...but hopefully they give the Rangers crap the next few days.

All this talk about the Sox implosion and yet I see my Braves are inching ever closer to doing the same. Injuries to the pitching staff and a cold streak at the plate is going to do them in.

Lackey with a rare quality start, Boston down 3-2 but threatening in the 7th.

edit:
4-4 in the bottom of the 7th
