Welp, 4 more hours til Phils/Cards. Although the Phils should have already swept this series. Some good reading:

Cliff Lee's bad luck on BABIP in Game 2:
http://crashburnalley.com/2011/10/04/cliff-lee-and-babip/

In the end, I only have Lee on the hook for four of the 12 hits. Now, to be fair, I’d have to do the same exercise for the eight batted ball outs, but the point of this exercise should be evident. As mentioned, Lee pitched well in the areas that didn’t involve his fielders: he struck out nine in six-plus innings of work, walked two, and induced ground balls at a 45 percent rate. If you roll the dice again with the same defense-independent numbers, Lee will have a much better night a majority of the time. As many will point out, though, baseball games are only played once and Lee’s results are what they are.

Most sabersticians agree, Jerry Meals called a shtty game 2 and the Cards got the better calls after Tony bitched:

Meals’ strike zone did appear to change — should La Russa be faulted for using Meals’ lack of confidence in his own calls to carve a slight edge for his team? We would be applauding Charlie Manuel if he was the one yelling from the dugout. The ire should have been directed at Meals, and at Major League Baseball for letting a mediocre umpire call an important post-season game.

Must pray to the baseball gods for better luck tonight!

I'll never understand Howard. Such a good hitter yet he goes 0 for his last 9. And people think I exaggerate when I say Pujols is 10x the player he is.

The Phillies can't hit this bullshit mediocre pitching. We don't deserve a win here, boys.

Yup, agreed. One thing I do know is that Halladay is going to be tough as hell at home and the Philly crowd are one of the best "10th man" on the field in baseball. I feel bad for any Cardinal that has to warm up in the bullpen with the fans up their asses. Carpenter has to outpitch Halladay or they're done.

Nothing better than 3 Game 5's (except 4)!

White sox announced robin ventura as their new manager today. I did like him as a player but who knows. Hopefully they take Thomas as their hitting coach too, id love to see their offense live up to their potential

I saw that too. Next year when the White Sox start their season at Texas against the Rangers, the video crew for Rangers Ballpark should play back the clip of Ventura charging Nolan Ryan, getting put in a headlock and punched in the face a few times, then happen to pan the camera over to Ventura and Ryan. Would be hilarious.
