Edit:

Looks like the filing is just for license agreement payments.

ALERT: Watch WAMUQ this morning for a dead cat bounce!!!

HUGE potential here, FDIC said no-go to the JPM tax break. If any of you play dead cat bounces, watch this one this morning. (Yes I know it's dead meow-meowed like 8 times, today might be another)

lol no. Looks like the transfer amount of money to a few certain people they licensed tech from.

Today appears to be a very low volume day. Both buyers and sellers are anxiously awaiting to see if Genvec will register for the ASCO scientific conference because today is the dead line to do so.

GenVec has determined, after conferring with its independent Data Safety Monitoring Board, that the PACT trial would not meet the goal of demonstrating persuasive evidence of clinical effectiveness that could form the basis for regulatory approval in the population chosen for study. This randomized, controlled trial compared treatment with TNFerade (in combination with standard of care (SOC)) to SOC alone in patients with locally advanced pancreatic cancer.

Disappointing, but well, that's what high risk, high return is all about. R.I.P Genvec for now, but hope it can come back.

So... anyone have ideas on how to play AEN right now?

Been in for awhile, it's at 1.90 at market close today, and well... following the history, it's made these surges a few times. I actually bought into AEN during one such surge in September or around then, I think... it has seen one or two such surges since. However, this one seems a little atypical.

Is the pullback going to be intense tomorrow, or does it actually have legs to continue to rally, at least another day?

Anyone even have actual knowledge of WHY it's moving like it is. I saw mention of a rumor that Pfizer may be showing interest in acquiring AEN. As such, I see no reason to run out and say that rumor has any certainty or weight behind it, but if it is indeed what has fueled the climb, when will this little bubble burst?

But hell, for the longest while AEN was a little loser for me. Nice to see my confidence had basis in reality, they seem like a far more stable investment than CTIC.
Though if I sell out of this anytime soon, the money will probably go back into CTIC :D since it seems to have found a support level in the mid $0.60s.
Might wait some time since news hasn't been exactly informative in a long while.

Straight out of left field It went from 25% effectiveness to 8% from 92 to 184 results. I'm going to sell all my shares and reevaluate GNVC down the road.

You're going to take the loss?

One thing I like about GNVC is how many therapies they have under development.

Unsure now, my cost basis is $1.92. I may take the lost. I'm thinking about it. It may test .40.

Yes I love the fact that they have tons of products under development as well; however their technology (gene based therapy) took a massive hit today, thus the cloud of doubt on the rest of their product line.

PC is one tough cookie however...

I like how management is pretty low key and honest about everything though.

I will hold onto it. It's already at -66%, which will probably become -75% or so by 9:30 am tmr (No AH trading from my broker), it's not worth. I will just forget about it for a while.

wow...Pretty stunning that they're going to discontinue the trial. I figured the results would be mediocre / mixed...but that's pretty sharp. Must have had issues with the delivery method.

Tomorrow will be a sobering day. Cost basis is $1.23 overall, so could be worse. I, too, am not sure if I'll get out now or wait for a bit of a recovery. We'll see where it opens.

I need to check my cost basis (I think its around $1.80) but before I even think of taking the loss I want to reevaluate. Like you said there is a cloud of doubt now on the whole product line.

Quite a big hit for those banking on gene therapy. I need to find out more details as I'm just hearing about this but I'd like to know if this was more a business or science decision.

I do think for better or worse that gene/personalized approaches are the future especially for worthy foes such as PC.

In hindsight did anyone see any warning signs of this coming? I know the press release about the Metatases effect for TNFerade was a little out of character for management, but everything else was solid. I wonder if there are any key leanings from this or just "bios are risky".

Sorry for your loss on GNVC guys. Never bought it or reccomended it, but I have been burned like that before, notably DNDN back in 2007 (fell from $17 to $5). Two years later it went to $35+

Richardycc, thanks for your insights here throughout. We all knew the risks going in. Sorry for your loss.

I'm actually going to put an order in at .30 to see if I can catch a crazy spike down once the floodgates open at 9:30AM EDT.

This truly sux...luckily, I did take my own advise and took some money off the table going into this news, wish I took more off. So pretty much most of my GNVC gains from the beginning of this year will be gone, but I think I am still ahead this year so far, thanks to GGP and other stocks. This is just a minor setback, I will definitely buy more to avg down tomorrow, their hearing loss program alone is worth a few bucks.

Cool deal, good to hear. This was my first dabble in "speculative" type stocks and it was interesting to see it all play out. The problem I have now is that their whole product line, even the hearing loss program is called into question after this. For sure their cancer treatment program is shot.

You don't lose anything until you sell.

Though it will be a tough sell to the stock holders tomorrow that they will have anything to sell next year. They don't have anything to sell and they're going to bleed dry at this rate.

What happens if you have a stop order in place but the price doesn't go below until after trading hours?

Usually they are impossible to fill in the AM. So you still get hurt badly. There were no buyers after this news.
