Any thoughts on gaming stock like ATVI? They seem to be battered because the video game industry as a whole is taking a hit but they seem to be weathering the storm better then ERTS & TTWO yet they are barely up from their 52-week low back when the dow was around 7k. They got like near 4B in cash and like no debt. Thinking about adding more to my position as they head lower. I can't see them lower than their 52week low since they haven't done anything to deserve that.

I sure wish I got on the VMWare wagon before today. Though I'm slightly surprised Apple isnt higher after hours from their Q1 earnings. We'll have to see what it does tomorrow.

Edit: Due to confusion in Apples earnings (GAP vs NON-GAP), trading was halted; hence why it isn't as active as I thought it was be.

GNVC is richardycc's baby, maybe he's more info?

I don't have any info, but speculate the drop at 3pm is either:
1. shorts/MM attack
2. shares offering is coming.

I did sell another 3000shares at 3.06 before the drop today, along with the 5000shares I sold at 2.73 last Friday, I should have enough money to buy ~9000shares tomorrow. I still lost over $10k on paper today thou. That's stock market for you.

I'm thinking about dipping in to GNVC for a couple of hundred shares. Any thoughts on how to time it? I wish I had the spare change that you guys do..... I'm heavily tied to E*Trade (basically nailed my feet to the floor with this one :( )

This is probably my last post before I go... but I think RMBS doesn't want its stock to go over $26.80 - I've spoken to a few people recently and they have mentioned the convertible that is due this Friday.

If the shares go over $26.80 before then, the debtors can convert into shares and dilute the stock by 5 million shares.

If the shares are under $26.80, the debtors only get interest from their loan - and no dilution to RMBS.

I think our conference call will not mention any "new" significant news, are to put a lid on the stock price temporarily.

Look at how stacked the bid is at 2.40 for GNVC. I picked up a handful at 2.41.

How does dilution hurt the stock in a long or short term? Noobish question sorry.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but let's take a simple example. Suppose company A has 100 shares outstanding valued at $1 a piece. So company A is worth $100.

If company A releases 100 more shares of stock onto the market, assuming their value stays constant, the shares are now all worth 0.50/share. So companyA gets 0.5*100 dollars to spend on things, and the people owning hte original 100 shares are angry b/c their shares got devalued. Releasing new shares is called "dilution". In general, dilution is viewed as a sign of weakness & usually the stock takes a hit after dilution; e.g., the company is releasing stock to raise money b/c they're in trouble. In this case, the holders of the RMBS convertible will convert them to shares if the price goes over 26.80, meaning that the net # of shares will increase (even though RMBS didn't release them directly).

The real story is more complex than that. Sometimes dilution doesn't signal weakness (HGSI for example, rose after its several dilutions). You can look into that more if you want, but the message is that dilutions aren't always a straight up negative. It's particularly complex with say biomed companies that are simply developing products and don't really have any kind of income.

i thought you don't get "new" shares unless you raise new capital, which is usually done for private companies, that's where dilution comes in. For public company, the number of shares doesn't really change if they simply release more shares into "floating". Anyway, dilution is bad for existing shareholders because they end up owning less of the company.

I've been accumulating over the past week - the stock is going lower on very low volume and will move on any news, IMO.

Not sure which direction, however.
