I tried watching the game last night, haven't watched the NBA in years. I was having a lot of reception issues with the antenna so the picture kept going in and out. When the picture came in well I thought there were sounds issues also but then I realized that was just Jeff Van Gundy trying to talking while deep-throating Lebron's penis.

Good god how can anyone stand to listen to that guy? He's like a non-poetic version of Bill Walton which, in some bizarro-world happening, is actually worse.

Dallas - Overall: 57-25 | Home: 29-12 | Road: 28-13
Miami - Overall: 58-24 | Home: 30-11 | Road: 28-13

Remember that Dallas had two devastating injuries, losing Butler for the season and Dirk for a few weeks - in the middle of the year. Before that, they were staying around San Antonio for best league record.

You're gonna tell me that Chicago's crowd is more nuts than Portland or OKC? Who's to say that the heat even recover from this? That was the biggest choke job/Comeback in finals history. The only other team to come back from 15 down in the finals with 7 mins left was the Jordan/Pippen bulls against an inferior Portland team. The Mavs came back against a team where they are the heavy underdogs. The series is still up for grabs but momentum is with Dallas.

The fans don't affect the Heat overall because during the regular season they got completely shit on everywhere they went. No place was louder than their first game at Cleveland. Doc Rivers said it after the Heat eliminated the Celtics. Also, I believe Miller wasn't in down the stretch in the 4th quarter cause at one point he seemed to have hurt his left arm(one with the sleeve).

A good point I heard made is how the Mavs are forcing Miami to play this shooting contest. Lebron in the past two games is 4-6(2-2 and 2-4) from the FT line. That is absolutely unheard of and needs to be turned around. The Heat managed to win game 1 and barely lost game 2 but, they've been playing the way the Mavs want them to play and not their game. That needs to change.

100% wrong. Portland has the best homecourt advantage in the NBA, followed by OKC. Chicago might be there in the top 5, but Portlands crowd is nuts every single game.

Has Jason Terry always been prone to make turnovers? He seems especially bad during the playoffs with some boneheaded TOs --Hitting his own feet with the ball, bad passes, or simply just losing the handle on the ball!

Is it just something to be tolerated because of his (usually) good shooting?

That is my point. The 2-3-2 format puts the "3" team at a huge disadvantage historically. Much moreso than the 2-2-1-1-1 format. You combine the 3 straight home games with the fact that Miami was tied for the best road record (with Dallas, thought that was common knowledge) and holding court for three straight games becomes really really tough.

I'm not sure what you don't understand, the Heat were not good at home most of the year (compared to other teams). They were great on the road. Going to Dallas for 3 straight games, given everything I mentioned, makes it easy for the Heat to regain control of the series.

If it were a 2-2-1-1-1 series and/or the Heat weren't that great on the road (like say, the Bulls) then the dynamic is much different.

The most nuts crowd is Golden State. Winning on the road is more difficult when playing good teams, not loud crowds. That is why the Bulls had a better home record than Golden State (or Portland or OKC for that matter).

So tell me why it even matters if the heat get a game in Dallas which I believe they will. Dallas can obviously win a game on Miami's floor. Dallas is tied with Miami for the best road record in the NBA. I don't know why they are at such a disadvantage playing the next 3 in Dallas?
 
Historically speaking the 2-3-2 offers a great advantage to the team with homecourt advantage. In the playoffs, much different than the regular season, it is about adjustments from game to game. Protecting home court against a good team is tough as we have seen throughout these playoffs. Having to do it three games in a row is nearly impossible and negates some of the advantages of striking back with adjustments.

Dallas has to play all three at home in a row and throwing everything out the window (stats, matchups, etc) it is nearly impossible to win 3 in a row once you get to the Finals. You can pretty much guarantee one Heat win out of those three without any kind of analysis, the pressure to hold court three games in a row is intense. If the Heat come to play, they will get two games out of it.

I'm sure much of it is psychological. After a team loses in the playoffs on the road, they just say "we are just hoping for a split" or something like that. If they lose both they say, "we just have to get a split next time". The pressure always rests on the home team to protect the home court. The pressure of doing it three times in a row against a team good enough to make it to the Finals is huge, not to mention the difficulty of beating a good team three times in a row.

Since both teams are great road teams, the disadvantage isn't so much that the Heat can play 4 at home and the Mavs can only play three. It is that the 3 for the Mavs are in a row.
 
I turned on the game last night right before Miami went up by 15 and the game looked like it was over. Dirk gave Miami a big "F You" by scoring with his left hand twice in the last minute and a half, including the game winner. It was a pretty fantastic finish to the game.

Great link! If the Mavs roll that same play out in the next game, watch one of the bigs for Miami instantly fall back towards the basket. Chandler is always outside the arc on those plays setting screens. Pull a big back in case he cuts to the basket and you have less traffic to fight through (think pick plays for receivers in the NFL) and have the remaining two defenders focus on the switch. Chandler isn't a threat from that range.

I couldn't agree more! Matrix has been money ever since he was called out in the Portland series. And he kept the Mavs in it last night while Dirk struggled through a tough start trying to get comfortable with his f'ed up finger, he shot terrible for the first three qtrs. Matrix is playing every bit as good as at any time in his career right now.

I'm expecting a huge game from Dirk in game 3, I think he will come out stroking from the first tip. I predict the Mavs top 100 for the first time in the series.

Big game tonight. I think the Mavs win. Mavs will clean up the mistakes they were making on the road.

Also Wade is the man on this Heat team just like I said before the series started. The offense flows much better when Wade is handling the ball.
