Sigh... Dallas is doing great right now, and my Lakers will lose this series for sure. I can hope for next year, but it'll be even tougher in the west, with up and coming teams in Oklahoma city, Memphis, and Portland.

I think this is it for this Laker team. Next year, we'll make the playoffs, but no championship. I'm glad for the recent success, but it's time for others to feel the joy as a rabid fan as I have in the past decade or more.

Good luck to the other teams and fans..SIGH...
Lakers did well this past decade, and I can't expect them to win ALL the time, hehe

*goes to corner to sulk 🙁

Just like the Spurs, both are not gonna take it any more. Both need restructuring. Lakers big men are too damn soft. They need a new PG since the league has changed and Fish is killing their team.

HAHAHAH FUUUUUUCK

2 games until Kobe loses it, I wonder who he's gonna shit on the hardest when he goes on his tyrant. I fear Gasol is going to get it the worst. It won't matter though because 4 seasons ago when he basically thru his entire team under the bus. They were all still kissing his ass basically the next day.

I want them to get swept so badly.

Rumor is Dwight Howard is ready to pull a Lebron/Melo/Deron and ride off away from the Magic. Only difference is that he wants to be a Laker supposedly.

Yikes.

I don't blame Howard, he's the only one that produces with any consistency on his team, the same situation that LeBron was in at CLE. He can't go to the Lakers though, they already have some decent bigs there.

Mavs 2010-2011 NBA Champions. You heard it here.

Glad I made my $25 bet months ago for the mavs to win it all 😛

I still think the Heat take it, but I would love to see Dirk and Cuban get the championship to make up for the ref debacle in '06. Getting it against the Heat would have a poetic justice.

Lakers would trade Gasol and/or Bynum to get Howard. I would 100x over and I don't care much for Howard. He would thrive as a number two guy though.

Wade got such bogus foul calls last time and he wasn't big star yet. Now + Lebron, Cuban would have a heart attack on the court.

loved the ball movement of the mavs tonight. my lakers are getting spanked and it's in large part due to the play of chandler and haywood. big improvement over dampier 😛

We'll see what happens back in Boston, but they're missing Perkins. Also, that drive down the court by LeBron when he charged into Rondo and rolled off with out a call, is pure BS.

I watched that on my iphone, ESPN had something stupid like "Lebron Dunks on Rondo!". Initial thoughts: holy crap that's a charge. They showed the replay and I thought: holy crap Rondo flop more? Lebron barely grazed his with his arm and certainly didn't extend.

FYI, from Dallas so I'm a Mavs homer, live in Boston so I'm also a huge Celtics fan.

Flop, but I guess as a Spurs fan you don't recognize those anymore. Lebron's triceps aren't too likely to knock over Rondo, because that is all that grazed him.

You didn't see Rondo or Doc complaining about the no call, wonder why?

yep

Wow ... man, you're a little bitch, ya know?

He might have flopped on it, but that was a charge. Rondo was set. But hey, as a guy with your head up your ass, you probably don't recognize that anymore.

If I'm set, you run by me dripping sweat on me, and I flop, that's not a charge. Same thing in this instance. There was very little contact, the correct (no)call was made.

Lets go Mavs! 26-20 lead after the 1st qtr. As expected the Lakers are attacking the paint more and the refs definately have the home field goggles on, but the Mavs are outplaying the Lakers so far.

I'm a Mavs homer and I actually think this series has been called very well, I didn't see anything with the refs in the first quarter. I especially liked how they let them play in Game 1.

Artest is going to get suspended for that elbow. I thought his therapist cured him?

He should be. That's obviously intentional and to the face. 1 game suspension would be appropriate.

Oh yes. Dampier would play great some days and tank the others and we paid good money for him. Chandler and Haywood are both consistently playing as well as Dampier did on good days. It's incredible to actually have decent inside options and big men to clog up the lane.

I hate the term "Must win game". If you are in the playoffs, any game is a "must win". I don't care if the series is 0-0, if you are up 3-1, down 1-3. You play every game to close.

The only time a game isn't a "must win" is at the end of a season and your playoff position is already locked.

"Must Win" and players "guaranteeing" a win are two of the dumbest statements in sports.

Ok, so something I've been wondering since the artest clothesline.

Why did:

1) No Mavs member go to JJ to see if he was ok
2) No Mavs member defend JJ by getting into artest's face (I did see Tyson getting ready to throw down)

I would have thought there'd be a full bench clear of the mavs to defend JJ.

I didn't watch the game so no comment on the reactions....

But maybe it was just good coaching/player restraint. Let us not forget benchgate a few years back in the western conference playoffs between...spurs and suns? Players leaving the bench and some getting suspended and some not.

Just got off the treadmill @ the gym where I had the chance to see this play from about 50 different angles for about an hour. Good ole ESPN.

I'll have a go @ answering your q's:

1) I think JJ made a bit of a meal out of the play, his teammates knew it, and they knew he'd be alright.

2) Even as the play was ending/over Artest kept his hand on Barea as he bent over in pain, as if to say, "I sorry I just couldn't help myself little fella...the crazy has to come out..." It's Artest. The Mavs are smart enough to let the officials handle it, especially at the end of the game. If it'd happened in the first quarter I think it would've gone down differently.

The whole play was bizzare. Artest was in such a rush to foul JJ he collided with Odom, and his non-clothesline hand smashed Lamar right in the junk. You can see Lamar wince in pain and wobble away, not even fully realizing what Artest did to Barea. LOL

They played it smart. JJ was okay. Did you want to lose someone and potentially let L.A. back into the series? I'd much rather have a full team and have a 3-0 lead come Friday night.

I'm still not sure why Artest is even allowed in the league at this point. He is just a nutcase and it's only a matter of time before he hurts a fan, coach, official, or another player.

Also Tyson is pimp. Mavs better be ready to come off with the cash when Tyson is a free agent next year.

I will admit I would of liked to have seen a little more concern from the other mavs players. Maybe wheresmybacon is right and they knew JJ was alright and he was just playing it up for the refs? But then again wheresmybacon could just be a Mavs homer? I mean look at his avatar.😀

I will just add that JJ was alone in the backcourt, the rest of the Mavs where at least a 1/2 court away and by the time they realized what happened the ref had already T'd up Artest and tossed him from the game and JJ was heading for the bench.

I think the 1 game suspension was too light, given Artest's history and the way he hung on JJ and circled him like a predator after the hit. If there had been an earlier confrontation between Ron and JJ this would have been different, but this was just a pure thugish atempt at intimidation because JJ had embarrased the Lakers with his great play.

If Phil Jackson is smart he will sit him in game 4 also. Becuase if Artest plays in game 4 and pulls another thug move like that it won't be the Mavs bench he will have to worry about, half the people in the AAC could flood the court to rodeo stomp that fool.

Maybe the Mavs played it smart by not reacting ... but you'd think Shawn Marion who was standing RIGHT THERE should have at least had a reaction. He had none. Guy showed as much emotion as Keanu Reeves. I'm glad he didn't do something stupid though, but I still would expect some reaction.

LOL @ Lamar being kneed in the nutsack.

But I mean, I at least expected Marion to go up to artest and say something like "Dude, WTF is your problem, that shit ain't cool", or something like that. Marion kinda looked like he just mumbled something under his breath.

Supposedly, the mavs coaches had warned the team that something might happen and to stay calm.

I don't know why Artest was in the game TBH. Dude is a time bomb waiting to pop when the game is CLOSE...let alone when it's over and the other guys have just punked you, twice, on your home court. Coach Philip wake up son!

The reason why Lakers are losing is because Mavs are tougher. Gasol and Odom are still such wusses under the basket. Now with Bynum blaming everyone else, Lakers are collapsing even more so. Kobe can only support the team so much.
