Damn I should have kept my Sept 30 calls.

Would someone explain why old GM stock is not worthless? It has risen ~$0.30 so far today.
I think that GMGMQ.PK is the old and new GM stock. The new GM announced that they are coming out of bankruptcy. So, the penny stock went up.
No, GMGMQ has nothing to do with the new company. Pretty recently (less than 1hr?) trading of GMGMQ was halted, now that the new GM is out of bankruptcy (and will not be publicly traded for now). Anyway details on that are slim at the moment.
I'm also very confused as to what people are doing with GMGMQ common stock. It's been said again and again that after old GM gets parted out & sold to debtors, there will probably be nothing left for shareholders... but that hasn't stopped folks from buying.
It's now Monday and still no trading for GMGMQ. Is it finally dead? The people who bought it on Friday are FUBAR'd--They could've gained up to 30%! Seems like the stock was mis-handled because of the way it was traded and then stopped.

damn it's expensive
Yeah, but it was even more expensive a couple weeks ago. I sold them out for $2.35, I think they went up as high as $2.60 or something.
I bought back in, TSRA Sept $30's for $1.10.
I also bought more TIVO on the big dip before the recovery, not sure if it's stop loss snowball manipulation or something else.

Have you guys seen this HGSI poster? (Poster as in scientific conference, not advertising)
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but this sure sounds like the lupus drug is successful. I mean phase 3 isn't out officially till pre-hours (8am) on monday, but it sounds like the news could be good? If so, monday will be awesome for investors.
Thoughts/opinions?

Just took a quick look at it, it looks like the drug shows some efficacy. Im not sure what goals the FDA had set out for them so i dont know if they were met. As an FYI, any poster put out by a drug company will try and show its drug in a positive light, i would put more stock in a publication in a peer reviewed journal article.
edit: The fact that they are announcing pre market monday is as good as any that the drug is going to be successful. In general premarket=good, aftermarket=bad. Lots of option activity around the current price, traders seem to be betting on a failure about 1.5:1. The calls are very expensive right now.

If the news is good, will it be worth buying more stock at market open? Or will all the action happen pre-hours?

the great thing about HGSI is that it is not a one trick pony, they have 5 drugs in late stage trials, even if the news is bad on Monday, the stock will drop for sure, but this biotech company will eventually become a pharmaceutical company, my guess is that they will get bought out within 5yrs. For long term investing, good news or bad news Monday, you should buy buy buy.

At least 2 of those 5 are past phase 3 and waiting for FDA approval, I think (one for anthrax, one for hep-C). Predictions for sales on those two drugs alone are pretty substantial. And I think the anthrax drug is being stockpiled by the govt even though it hasn't gotten the official nod yet.
But I was talking more the short term. Like if news is good, I don't want to pour on money just to have the price decline over the next few days. Just wondering if there's any pattern for the timing after big announcements like this.

Usually the majority of the movement ill be in the hour after the announcement, with a small mtion (usually downward) for the next couple days unless other news hits. Unless youre going for the long term, your bets on the table are your only shot right now.

There was lot of shorting on HGSI past few weeks, this price run very well might be short covering after the test results came out. I have a feeling you sell it at market open, wait for a few more weeks until it falls down below $5 & then buy it back. Just my thought.......
