Alright, so with all the little questions and fun out of the way, this week's two BIG pickups for me off waivers so far has been Slaton in one league and Jamal Lewis in another. So let's get down to biznass, the who-to-start questions. In no particular league order:
League #1 - Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1RB/WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DST
QB: Aaron Rogers, Trent Edwards (I'm gonna have to go with Rogers, though Edwards will likely be airing it out against TB)
RB: Steven Jackson, Steve Slaton, Fred Jackson, Jamal Lewis (I'm starting Fred Jackson, you'd have to be a fool not to. Lewis has a nice matchup, Jackson and Slaton don't, but this is a WR/RB flex league, and backs usually generate more points).
WR: Chad Ochocinco, Derrick Mason, Donnie Avery, Nate Burleson, Antwaan Randel El (Avery still has to prove himself, and I don't think he's in a matchup worth risking. I also don't think 85 is in the right matchup this week. Mason is always worth a couple points, but worth the start? That leaves Burleson, who seems to have some favor with Hasselbeck and a favorable matchup, and Randel El - who was really a very surprising and efficient target for Campbell last week).
TE: Tony Gonzalez, Todd Heap (Well duh, Gonzalez IS starting until proven otherwise)
K: David Akers (No choice)
Def: Ravens (No choice 🙁)
qb: rogers
rb: steve jackson, slaton - going with the always start your studs rule here. the rams suck so sjax is going to have to be more involved and any scores are good chances that he'll get them. slaton will be better than week 1 where the whole texan offense sucked.
WR: Ocho and Burleson
flex: fred jackson
TE: gonzo
League #2 - Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1RB/WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DST
QB: Drew Brees, Eli Manning (DUH!!!)
RB: Ray Rice, Kevin Smith, Cadillac Williams, Leon Washington (WR/RB flex league, meaning I'm probably starting 3 RBs. Rice and Smith are givens. Williams has to go up against the Bills, and Washington against the Patriots. That gives Williams the better on-paper matchup, but the Bills rushing-D was pretty good against the Patriots last week. On the other hand, Washington will be utilized much like Fred Jackson (some run, lots of screens), who had a stellar night against the Patriots, but the downside is that he will be sharing the backfield and ISN'T the starting back for the Jets).
WR: Wes Welker, Patrick Crayton, Derrick Mason, Donnie Avery, Michael Jenkins (Welker is starting, no questions asked. Crayton is inconsistent, but already labeled as Romo's deep threat. Mason and Avery, well, see the previous league notes. Jenkins is trying to find his way OFF my roster).
TE: Greg Olsen, Brent Celek (Damn I should have started Celek last week! I believe with McNabb hurt, EVEN if he plays, Celek will be getting a lot of looks either way. Cutler has all but forgotten Olsen even exists - Desmond Clark was on the field far more than Olsen was. One more week before he turns into waiver bait for me!)
K: Lawrence Tynes (No choice)
Def: Falcons (Waivered off the Bears for the pick of the week. Atlanta against Delhomme. 🙂)
qb: brees
rb: rice, smith - start the guys who's gonna touch the ball more. caddy/leon are in timeshares
wr- welker, mason -
te- olsen
flex- washington- he'll get more touches than crayton/avery.
League #3 - Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1RB/WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DST
QB: Philip Rivers, Carson Palmer (Palmer is sitting on the very end of the bench at the waiver line right now)
RB: Adrian Peterson, Fred Jackson, Clinton Portis, Ray Rice, Leon Washington (WR/RB Flex, I **will** be starting 3 RB's. Peterson and Jackson need no reasons. The question then becomes whether to start Portis or Rice in the flex spot. Given Rice isn't Baltimore's redzone back, Portis probably should get the nod no? Washington isn't worth the start with my backfield depth).
WR: Terrell Owens, Vincent Jackson, Kevin Walter, Nate Burleson (Owens and Jackson get the start, period.)
TE: Brent Celek, Owen Daniels (While Daniels might get a good amount of work against Tennessee, you just have to like Celek this week due to the QB issues with the Eagles)
K: Nick Folk (No choice)
Def: Eagles, Packers (Now this is a tough one. Eagles go up against the Saints. They have a great D, and last week was against a lesser QB. But the ball will be up for grabs. The Packers on the other hand are dressed to impress this year, and they're up against a rusty Carson Palmer. This makes for a very, VERY tough choice who to start)
qb:rivers
rb: AP, portis
flex: jackson
wr: TO/jackson
te: daniels- different qbs always scare me. never know how its going to go.
League #4 - 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1DST
QB: Peyton Manning (Only one on the roster, though Edwards is available - I think Manning is the better choice right now)
RB: Thomas Jones, Cadillac Williams, Steve Slaton, Darren Sproles (Well, Jones continues to impress this season. Williams was mentioned elsewhere. Slaton has a really unfavorable matchup this week, which doesn't bode well after being shut down by the Jets last week. And the wild card is Sproles... if he gets the start, granted it's against the Ravens, I think I might have to start him instead of Williams.)
WR: Lee Evans, Greg Jennings, Hines Ward, Devin Hester (Jennings is a given. If Evans doesn't get points against the Bucs this week, then I don't think any Bills WR is worth having on the roster anymore. He has a favorable matchup this week. Ward, well, you just gotta love him - not expecting monster points, but he should put up a decent number anyway. Hester - well... last week he showed that he deserves to be called a WR. With Cutler, against a strong D, we may see Cutler go to him for yet another clutch play.)
TE: Tony Gonzalez, Jeremy Shockey (Again, until proven otherwise, Gonzalez gets the start)
K: Neil Rackers (No choice)
Def: Steelers, Packers (While Green Bay has an appealing matchup, the Steelers go up against Cutler who coughed up 4 INTs and 2 Sacks last week. I expect that we may not see as many INTs, but I think Palmer makes less risky choices than Cutler does.)
qb: manning
rb: slaton, sproles (if LT is out), Jones
flex: jones/sproles
wr: jennings, ward
te: gonzo
So fellow fantasy owners, who would YOU start in each league?
