I will say going 17-0 back then was an awful lot easier than going 17-0 now, let alone 19-0. Look at some of the games the Dolphins won that season, many were against absolutely TERRIBLE teams.

Plus, I find the 72 Dolphins players to be incredibly annoying at this point, especially Mercury Morris. It was 36 years ago, get over yourself.

And you don't think that the Pats played some terrible teams? Let's look at their division:

Miami: 1-15
Jets: 4-12
Bills: 7-9

How many teams with winning records do you see there?

Hey, if anyone recorded the game and is willing to send me a DVD copy of it, I'll PayPal ya a few bucks. PM me. Thanks! 🙂

I heard someone say the NFL network is going to rebroadcast the Super Bowl this week.
Can anyone confirm?
I heard that it is scheduled for Wednesday evening sometime.

Lol, I don't know. 🙂

Call it the "Magic Johnson", because only Magic can do some shiet like that. Basically, you'll never see a catch like that again, where the QB avoided sack, where the WR caught the ball with the helmet, landed on a defender so that the ball didn't touch the ground so it'd be an incomplete, and the ball didn't pop lose.

After that catch, it was destiny. I hated them for it, also, there was another big play that they didn't get called on for OPI, but I digress.

I wonder what kinda rating they will get in Boston for it? They should probably show brady bunch reruns there or something instead.

The Toomer catch? Yeah, Giants got away with one there. You got the 12 man on the field call. 🙂

With the Patriots defeat at the Superbowl, their chances at a perfect season came crashing to the ground.
now that's some insight right there. ever consider a career in sports broadcasting? 😛

Maddening!

it is what it is. everyone just played their game. they all gave 110% effort.

I almost won a Sony HTDV, the winner number was 685 and my number was 684...so close.

.

if it was a raffle, you didn't "almost win"...your odds were the same as everyone else, assuming everyone bought 1 ticket.
everyone else "almost won" also.

Every year one team gets a Superbowl victory. Only one team went 18-0. Which is the rarer event?

Two other teams went 15-1 in the regular season and won the Super Bowl for a final record of 18-1. I think that's a more significant accomplishment than the Patriots' 18-1, because they won the Super Bowl.

That was my thought. Not only did the Pats fail to match the Dolphins, they failed to match several other teams.

Come on people. I KNOW someone recorded the game!

i have no doubts that it will be up in HD on newsgroups. if/when that happens and you haven't received your DVD yet, ill DL it and burn it for you.

it is important to have a pristine copy of the patriots falling apart and no longer being talked about as one of the best teams in NFL history

Until the very last drive that game sucked, it was more a Super Bore than a Super Bowl. Manning MVP? What for, not giving the game away? Dumb Hick. If anybody deserved the MVP it was someone on the Giants Defense and nobody played better in that game than Wes Welker even though his teams offense sucked hard.

The 85 bears went 18-1 as well but they won the SuperBowl!!!!
In a bit of circular 'mirth', the 1 loss was to... drum roll.... the Dolphins. One of those other times were the Dolphins seem to magically protect the 1972 record.
