That's pretty much what I'm thinking. But kobe also has the same determination.

:( Just be happy you get to see the games. I'm off in the ocean in a research ship for work w/ no TV, and really really crappy worse-than-dialup satellite internet. I can't even listen to internet radio from nba.com for the games due to the bandwidth being horribly inconsistent out here.

Also, it will take me about 5 minutes for this post to materialize on these forums. I've already tried posting 3 times before this one, I'm hoping this one will not time-out.

:( :( :( :(. I'm a die-hard laker fan, and this is definitely hell for me. sigh.

Great article on Kobe. I've seen nearly ALL of Kobe's games and his performances. He's been doing his "trust his teammates" thing for the past 2 years too. I've never felt the mvp award given to Kobe this year was deserving mainly because I thought he deserved it a LOT more 2 years ago. Some writers are so ignorant (especially that douchebag michael ventre). If anything, Kobe seems like a step behind in his athleticism this year compared to what I've seen over the years. That probably can be attributed to his pinky injury... He's not nearly as aggressive as he was last year or the year prior.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c...allard/05/27/kobe0602/ another amusing article. Very good insight on what goes through Kobe.

I can see now how he can come off as a bit arrogant, but to obtain the level Kobe is in, you have to be; just like Jordon had that confidence and arrogance about him.

He is also, by almost all accounts, the best player in the league. "It's not even close," says one Western Conference scout. "The difference between him and LeBron [James] is like [the one between] a Maserati and a Volvo."

The scout has other things to say about Bryant. For example, on his weaknesses: "Um, let me think . . . [long pause] . . . No, I don't think he has any." On his athleticism: "There are probably 10 [with more] in the league" -- he names Andre Iguodala, Josh Smith, Dwight Howard and J.R. Smith as examples -- "but no one uses his as well as Kobe. Just watch his footwork sometime." And on his focus: "There's a difference between loving basketball and liking basketball. There are only about 30 guys in the league who love it, who play year-round. Allen Iverson loves to play when the lights come on. Kobe loves doing the s--- before the lights come on."

lol, I like the part about the freethrows:

Even now, every little challenge matters to Bryant. Here he is at the end of a practice last week. Each Laker has to take a free throw. Everybody hits his except Bryant, who rims one out. The only shooter left is Derek Fisher, who shot 88.3% from the line this season. Bryant stands to the side of the basket, fidgeting. As Fisher's shot arcs toward the rim, Bryant suddenly takes two quick steps and leaps to goaltend the attempt. "Of course," forward Lamar Odom says later, "he couldn't be the only one to miss."

Kobe is a class act. He's very close to MJ and is head and one of the top players of the league. The guy can shoot, he can dribble, he can dunk and he can defend. That's just like MJ, particularly later on in MJ's career. I'd still say MJ is better, given the stats he put - frickin 50% shooting average. Kobe is a great clutch player but he does miss a fair bit, particularly early in the game. As magic johnson once said, "There's Michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us."
