Altima
Nissan's stand will be busy with two world debuts. The redesigned 2007 Nissan Altima is the first Nissan built on the automaker's new D platform. Engineering enhancements include a new front suspension, upgraded rear suspension and improved body rigidity. The Altima's wheelbase is 1 inch shorter than the 2006 model, but Nissan says the redesigned car has the same interior space as the current model. The 2007 Altima is the first Nissan to receive the automaker's new 3.5-liter V-6 engine and the first Nissan sedan offered with a continuously variable transmission. Nissan says the updated V-6 engine will provide slightly more horsepower than the current 250-hp V-6. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard with V-6 and four-cylinder engines. The car goes on sale this fall. A hybrid model goes on sale in the winter of 2007.

Yup saw this on the nissanclub.com forums. It looks pretty good, though very similar to the current design (which is good for us 3rd gen owners:))..

I wonder if they'll make it handle any better. I had one as a rental car once. 50ft turning diameter FTL!

supafly, not sure why you had a 50 ft turning radius. I would assume you meant diameter, and even then I would say there is something wrong with that car. I can easily make a u-turn on a two lane (two lanes in each direction) road starting in the appropriate lane.

You're right, I meant diameter, not radius, and I was obviously exaggerating... it is pretty bad though.

2.5: 37.4 ft
3.5: 38.7 ft
SE-R: 40 ft

Bah, just get some speed and pull the e-brake. Easy way to do those u-turns.

2.5: 37.4 ft
3.5: 38.7 ft

most mid-size's have a similar turning radius.

Meh, it still handled like a boat. Maybe it was due to the fact that it was a rental car. Trying to turn into a parking spot was not fun.

It is bad. I blow parking in my 06 all the time. My dad has a Maxima and it is just as bad or worse.

I agree with the handling and I drove my friends altima so its not like u had a bad experience because of it being a rental.

does look suprisingly similar.. Nissan and Infiniti need to keep coming out with fresh new products.. they 've had a hell of a run in the last few years with some fresh designs that worked.

The current Altimas do handle like yachts when trying to make tight turns. I wish they'd shorten the rear a bit and make them a bit mroe nimble and agile.

nicer looking dash.

the dash the altima had when it first came out was horrendous

i think the fix didn't improve it that much

i see they got rid of those dumb sunken guages too
