No team I care about in it, but they really have to cut these things shorter. Baseball is only a few weeks in playoffs and maintains the excitement. Hockey, once your team's out and it's only round 1 of the finals a month later, you start going wtf...

The longevity of it is part of what makes it absolutely brutal. Winning the cup doesn't require a short run of brilliance, but a truly truly soul burning desire to win to take the abuse for that long.

Besides, even if you played the maximum number of games for every series and won the Stanley Cup, you'd still play far fewer games then a baseball team plays in the regular season. 😛

I love how Toronto is once again whining about the new NHL rules. They just can't accept the fact that their team isn't playoff worthy, so they blame it on the new game ending shootouts. They did the same thing when Buffalo opened the season and tried to set a new opening win streak record. If you reversed it and Toronto was benefitting from the new rules, you wouldn't hear a peep from them. I almost wish they were in the first round against Buffalo, so the sabres could send them home, again.

I really hope they look back on the season and remember things like blowing a 4-1 lead in 9 minutes against the sabres 😀.

😀
I was at that game. I've never seen leafs fans go from heckling with high 5's to sitting down stone cold silent so quickly.

your always going to have whiners and complainers......... just suck it up and wait for next season I guess.

Cheers,
Aquaman

On TSN Maggie The Monkey has made her picks.......... last year she had more correct picks then the analysts.

Pens
Sabres
Devils
THrashers
Canucks
Wings
Wild
Predators

Notice in the matchups with animals in them........ she choose the animal team 😉

Cheers,
Aquaman

I'm rooting for the Penns. After the first round, I'll probably have to switch over to Buffalo (Lockport, NY native).

Actually, I kinda expect Pitt to mke it through round one, but Im a pessimist.

Some teams too kthe new shoot out rules and actually practiced break aways. Others didn't and suffered. They shouldn't be blaming the rules. They should be blaming the coach.

It worked on The Simpsons! Or something like that. Really, as far as team names go I think the Devil trumps all 😛

Hey........ Devils are in a 2 vs 7 match up........ the most likely for an upset 😉

It's on tonight!! Gaborik is going to light up the Ducks! Actually I think that Pronger and Niedermayer will keep him out of it, but Backstrom will be the difference in the series.

WOO! It begins!

My picks for the first round:

West
--
Red Wings over Flames
Ducks over Wild
Canucks over Stars
Sharks over Predators

East
--
Sabres over Islanders
Devils over Lightning
Thrashers over Rangers
Ottawa over Pittsburgh

I think the Ducks / Wild and Senators / Penguins series both go 7 games. I wouldn't be surprised if the Thrashers / Rangers series does too.

anyone in the vancouver area want to meet-up to watch game one?

no TV + no friends interested in hockey = 🙁
