I thought the refs job was to whistle the play dead when they lose sight of the puck.

How did Schick see the puck when it was in Hasek's pad? The play should have been blown dead before it rolled down his leg.

It didn't matter. The whistle didn't come until WAY after that whole thing transpired.

My point is Schick should have blown the play dead well before that happened. He could have easily waved off the entire thing and just pointed to the faceoff circle.

Yea he was blowing plays dead WAY faster than that earlier...and it's stupid that the replay can only review whether the puck crossed the line...because besides Schick being forever on the whistle it was also apparent that Niedermayer was pushing Hasek...perhaps not enough to force him into the net...but pushing with his stick nonetheless

EDIT: It's be one of those things the NHL admits to screwing up later and saying oops our bad cuz the rules are piss-poor, sorry to whomever's loss that was.

Yeah. I hate to be the guy that rips the ref. Generally I think they do a great job. But he has definitely be quick with the whistle when Hasek makes a save and wants to keep the play going.

Sabres seemed better Defensively, especially Miller, but their Offense is AWOL. Looking to be a sweep.

That was a Must Win game for Buffalo and they could not get a puck between the posts. They could not get a groove going at all this series. They choked when many of us expected Ottawa to be the ones choking once again.
