Embellished? He's setting up for a save and his STICK got caught.. not his skate. There was very little embellishment there as he still tried to make the save.. and notice he wasn't bi***** for the rest of the game

Man, that was a goal, but I guess the reviews are even now.
I love my sabres, but I have no confidence in them to win this series.

Have confidence in your team! Confidence in the team (by fans and the players) is one of the reasons the Rangers are playing so well!

Another exciting game though. This is definitely a great series. Other than maybe 4 minutes in the 2nd period of game 1, it has been a really even series which is great for a 1 vs 6 playoff game.

Sabres are a great team ... but LETS GO RANGERS! :)

Fvck confidence. I'm not on that ice.
The sabres are playing like a bunch of 12 year old girls, except for 5 minutes when they actually get close to tieing or winning the game.

After watching the rangers (a mediocre team at best) slow the sabres down and force them off their run and gun game, I have no confidence in them. Nor does Lindy Ruff.

Eh, at home I guess you don't make a difference -- but if you're there, you definitely do. I definitely think the fans make a huge difference at MSG.

I've been at every home this year. I've held seasons for at least a decade.
I've never been as disappointed as I am now.

Another crazy game at the Garden. The Rangers are taking the Sabres out of their game, but haven't been able to generate much in terms of offense at all. The Sabres are so fast they are able to smother the attack on the back check.

Just saw a replay of the play at the end of the game... inconclusive from the camera, but the puck was likely over the line. If you can't see it, you can't call it though. Tough break, I guess the teams are even now.

Disappointing games tonight.

Sabres play poorly till the last 7 minutes, where they pour it on.

But it's too late, & they get an unlucky call on that "inconclusive goal" :(

I too am actually worried now.

I never thought we'd see a 2-2 tie in this series.

If they do pull thru to win this, they're gonna be in a lotta trouble against either NJ or Ott, something i didn't anticipate.

Seems they're not the unstoppable force many of us hoped for/expected :(

And damn, the Canucks...
They just can't get goals, & Pronger is putting on a show, as usual.

Series over now that teh Duckies went up 3-1.

I was at a bar and just happened to be ordering a drink when they were reviewing that play... I had no audio, but based on what I could see we all knew it went in, but I figured they'd rule it no goal because you couldn't see it go over the line on the video... Sucks to have a goal not counted, but there was a similar situation against the Islanders that went in Buffalo's favor, and a 2-2 tie makes the series much more interesting. ;)

They need high-def cameras in all of those rinks...

Then I would have at least got to catch some OT after pickup hockey :)

Instead I fell asleep while watching the CaDucks game :p

I don't have a problem with the no goal call. From what I've seen, there's no way to conclusively know it was a goal. That doesn't mean it wasn't, just that the reviewers made the right decision (insist on Carubba Collision! ;)).

The best sign of game 4 was that the last 10 minutes, Buffalo FINALLY started to play like a desperate hockey club that WANTS it. That drive has been missing thus far in the playoffs, and if it's here to stay, I feel very good about the rest of this series, and will have high hopes for the playoffs. If Buffalo puts that kind of effort in every minute each game, they'll be very hard to beat.

Watching TSN last night and listening to the local sports show this morning, all I heard was how we "need" HD cameras in all the rinks, STAT!

I don't get it.

1. Referee made a call on the spot: no goal.
2. The camera angles available did not conclusively show the puck crossing the line.
3. Official verdict: Referee's decision stands. NO GOAL.

Besides, there is no guarantee that HD camera would have resulted in a different ruling.

Yes, it appears that the puck may have completely crossed the goal line.
No, we cannot be sure.

NHL officials scoured every piece of video (HD and SD) in the building, and could not declare a goal. Yet every hockey nut / broadcaster in the world (having only watched a subset of those same videos) is completely CERTAIN that it was a goal.

Anyone who watched the game knows that Buffalo was not robbed of anything. They were lucky to be in that position, and the simple truth is that the Rangers earned their series tie.

If I were a Buffalo fan, I would be worried, as the last two opponents have showcased some defensive weakness. If you let them come out of their zone untouched, they will beat you with their rush. If you dump it in and pound their defense in the corners, they will give up the puck.

After seeing the way Ottawa pounded Pittsburgh and NJ with their forecheck, if I were a Sabres fan, I would be cheering for the Devils pretty hard tonight.

As a Buffalo fan, I will address this.

First, as a Buffalo fan, I am a bit worried. However, not for this reason. We may have showcased some "defensive weakness" but this is all mainly due to Buffalo not playing like they give a damn. The last 10 minutes of game 4 against the Rangers is the first time they've played the way teams need to play in these playoffs, desperation and hard work hockey. They've been sleepwalking through the playoffs. If they continue that, they can kiss the playoffs goodbye, because even if they somehow manage to get by the Rangers while comatose, they won't last long. The teams will only be getting better down the line.

That said, I am expecting to see them play their best hockey of the playoffs in game 5. I hope and believe that this last game has finally lit a fire under their collective asses. If that's the case, wonderful. We'll just have to wait and see.

As far as the Sens/Devils match tonight, I am now, as I was at the start, 100% pulling for Ottawa. I crave a rematch of last season. If Buffalo and Ottawa meet up, I think it would be the most exciting series of the entire playoffs (assuming Buffalo gets there by actually playing). So, until the end of the NJ/Ott series, Go Sens Go!

Well, fans use a different standard to judge than the officials. Officials can only go by what they can see conclusively on the video. Fans have the luxury of extrapolating.

Was Buffalo robbed by bad officiating? No (at least not in that incident, which is about all I saw of the game). The officials made the right call in the situation. Was Buffalo robbed of a goal? I think so. I think the puck went over the line, even if we couldn't see it, so yes I think they scored a goal that didn't count.

I'm a Devils fan, so I'm rooting for the Rangers.

I believe that the puck appeared to cross the goal line as well. I believe that the decision to allow the referee's original call was correct, and the Rangers were the rightful winners. I also believe that all cameras in the arena should be HD.

However, I feel it is ridiculous of broadcasters to use this as some sort of rallying cry.
One broadcaster in particular, made a point about this type of thing happening in Game 7 of the Finals. He made it sound as if that would trigger Armageddon.

Rangers Fans should be glad of this scandal. Get Lindy Ruff et al. thinking about that would-be goal, instead of thinking how they let the Rangers back in the series.

This is like Messier's elbowing of Doug Gilmour in '94. Gilmour and the Devils were so busy crying about the non-call, they didn't notice the Rangers come back and take the series from them.

I don't know and I didn't say if it was a goal or not. Frankly, I don't care.

All I am saying is - some rinks have the capability to zoom in with better resolution and others have different angles from which to zoom from. Uniformity should be the end goal. Don't you agree? I'm not certain but I do believe such uniformity exists in other pro sports leagues which utilize replays, such as the NFL.
