Just played for about an hour again, stuck in the crowd the entire time. Really is a fun game. 🙂

Looks like the US beta starts June 1 at 7:30PM PST, and includes Canada.

What is the US-Canadian Beta of 1 vs 100?
Xbox LIVE is offering a beta version of its new game show 1 vs 100 in the United States and Canada. The beta begins June 1st, 2009.

Can I win real prizes during the US-Canadian Beta of 1 vs 100? What prizes?

Yes, every eligible player in the beta will receive entries into the US-Canadian Beta 1 vs 100 Sweepstakes for a chance to win real prizes, including:

* One (1) Grand Prize : A Samsung 52? plasma HDTV and surround sound/receiver bundle. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of Grand Prize: $3000
* Two (2) First Prizes : An Acer Aspire laptop computer. ARV: $500
* Two (2) Second Prizes : A Microsoft Zune 120GB music player. ARV: $200
* Thirty (30) Third Prizes : A Microsoft Xbox Live Arcade Game of Sponsor?s choosing. ARV of Third Prize: $15 each

What are the different versions of 1 vs 100 I can play during the US-Canadian Beta?
The different versions of 1 vs 100 are 1 vs 100 Live and 1 vs 100 Extended Play. 1 vs 100 Live is a two-hour game with a live host in which players may be selected for high-profile roles like the Mob and The One. 1 vs 100 Extended Play is a fast-paced, half-hour show?the more you play, the better your chances of being picked as the Mob or The One in 1 vs 100 Live!

Supposedly, the Canadian beta had over 10,000 people participating in it. If that's just for Canada, I'm thinking that it's going to be very long odds to get into the Mob or be the one.

Giant Bomb infiltrated the Canadian beta and put up a quick look of 1 vs. 100. Looks like a lot of fun, especially for a free game. It also looks like you can win a crap ton of MS points if you are "the One."

It's not free if you have to pay for a gold subscription.

You're not paying for the Gold membership JUST to play 1 vs 100 though. This is just yet another point of value they've added to it like when they added Netflix. I'd much rather see them add value like this instead of taking away value.

Adding Netflix was a joke. You not only have to pay for XBL but also have a Netflix subscription on top of it (unless they changed it). Nothing like paying twice for something.

Wow, power whining. I love having Netflix on the 360, and I'm looking forward to checking out this game. Live Gold is well worth the $30/year I've been paying. If the rumors are true, it's about to get even better with the addition of Hulu.

Wait, you have to subscribe to Netflix in order to use their service? OUTRAGEOUS!

Bump to remind everybody that the US Beta starts tonight. I plan on being there. Look me up.

I'm going to try to get on if I have time.

No, what's outrageous is having to subscribe to two separate services. I have yet to see any benefit to XBL Gold.

Well then don't subscribe. MS is definitely trying to build value into XBL Gold (assuming Last.fm is Gold only).

No different than something like HBO or Showtime. You have to subscribe to the cable service as well as the premium channels. Personally I don't think $3 a month is worth complaining about given the alternatives, but to each their own.

if bought through Amazon, $2.84 per month. Half the cost of a good cup of coffee. HBO on the other hand is $14 a month.

If we can't make the first beta live show, will the offline stuff to try it out be available tonight too?

There are other beta 1v100 events on Saturday night. Not sure if that helps you any, but at least they didn't just make the beta a one-time thing.

Took me about 15 minutes, but I finally got in around 10:45. Played a full round and a half in the crowd. During my full round, I got a streak of 10 going, but then missed one, and got a couple more. The "One" had the mob down to 9 people, and it was pretty exciting, because they were up to 6,000 Microsoft points, and it was interesting to see if they would take the money (almost $40). They took the mob, and all 9 of them got the next question right, so the One took the money. I was thinking it was a good choice until the live announcer (which was cool by the way) informed everyone that this was the beta and that no prizes or points were being given out. I'd been mad if I was the "One" and thought I was getting a hefty sum in points.

The top 3 scorers in the crowd also get Microsoft points (outside the beta, anyway), but you basically have to be on the money with every question as soon as you can buzz in, because there were plenty of people at the top. The top 10 scorers at one point had something like 42,600 points, and I had 42,100 points, but the next question was the one I missed.

There were a lot of game-related questions, one I found interesting was that they asked the name of a game that a certain developer was working on, and it was "Heavy Rain". Isn't that a PS3 exclusive, or am I wrong on that?
