**OFFICIAL**1,000 post minimum for ATOT? **CONFIRMED**

Can we get a 1,000 post minimum for ATOT? If users don't participate on the rest of the forum, atleast a little bit, there are plenty of other places for them to go and try to ruin.

EDIT: TheLonelyPhoenix gets in though, once the  shipment arrives. 😉

I fully agree to this. AT is turning into MSN w/ a bunch of pubescent girls w/ no interest in computer hardware whatsoever. This should be a community of enthusiasts with knowledge to share, not a teenage social commune.

I think a literacy, sociology, and math test (maybe up to Calculus II) should suffice.

I couldn't pass that, despite the number of people I've actually helped on this forum.

Stop posting.

Perhaps you can enlighten me.

That's just funny.

My point is, I see ATOT as a community of people that have helped out on Anandtech. Not just a bunch of punk little kids that sign up and post absolute bullshit!

For example, I see one thread that you posted in outside of ATOT and FI. I didn't search all of the forums though, so you could very well be posting in the playground called video. Why put up with OT only people when they've contributed nothing?

I've posted outside of OT many times, I just have only origianted one thread outside of it. Search again.

As you can see from my post count, I haven't done much posting on the whole yet. Does this mean my opinion is worthless?

And you haven't answered my question.

I didn't see a question in your original post. And I saw 1 thread you posted in outside of OT and FI. I'll unblock the rest of the forums and re-search though.

Have fun. I still don't see why this is relevant though.

7 threads. Yay.

I explained what I believe the relevance to be.

I posted multiple times inside those thread for discussion & feedback.

I did a quick search on you, about 800-900 threads against 30,000+ posts, whereas my 7 / 600+ posts, and this doesn't take into account how many individual posts were made in those threads.

Maybe you shouldn't judge people by their post count? Novel idea, no?

So because I post more in individual threads, and many of the threads I've participated in are archived instead of current my point is any less valid?

Post count is a quick way to see what kind of contribution a user has made to the community. If you can think of a better way, let me know. I could recommend a "be here for a year" rule.

Not that my suggestion will even be taken seriously.

If what really bothers you about OT are the number of people making tasteless parody threads, posting links to yet another "Rate me" site, flaming away at each other like 3 year old, etc., then yes, that bothers me too. But maturity != post count. I think what you're really asking is for people to just grow up, which I don't foresee happening anytime soon.

I'd love to see a bit of that happening too. My main point was making someone be a contributing member of the forums before indulging into the idiocy of ATOT. Many of the more established members are, IMO, better than some of the newbies. There are definitely exceptions, don't get me wrong.

Another reason why this isn't a bad idea.

Granted, it wasn't in OT, he still has access to it, and that scares me.

It would also get rid of alot of those freeipods/freelcds/visit my webpage, blah blah posts.

Yeah, sure, I'll agree that established members are generally better. But I don't see the link between that and being able to post Off Topic... seems like that area in particular should be an open meeting place. I'd have no issues if you wanted a "Senior Member" board or something to that effect.
