I think that's more of a time issue, faster to just hit him than pull out the tazer (if he had one).

I do like the idiot in the commentary suggesting it's safer to punch someone in the face repeatedly than to use a tazer on them:

how is that police brutality? wouldnt it kinda be safer punching someone in the face rather then sending a whole bunch of electricity through the body. lets look at the possible results. punch in the face = broken teeth/jaw, concussion. Tazer = burns and or the potential for heart failure... looks like a pretty clean cut

Shows the extent to which these devices have a major image problem. A punch in the face is guaranteed damage to both officer and suspect, yet somehow that's preferable to a device that will cause no injury at all nearly all of the time?

Nothing wrong with this. Idiots that resist should expect that kind of treatment. Anyone who decides not to obey an officer, or runs should be punched in the face and tazed. Everyone knows this.
 
If the perp was knocked out cold and the police officer kicked his head a couple of times, then maybe there would be an issue.
 
Running is a lot worse than simple disobedience. I have no problem with the cop tazing or knocking the guy the fuck out in that situation, you don't run. Ask questions, refuse unreasonable demands, do all that stuff if you want, but don't fucking RUN.
 
I think when you are getting arrested it should all be fair game, fighting back and eluding police should not incur additional charges, you just get what you deserve, be it a gunshot or a punch in the face.

(I know my belief probably isn't popular though)
 
When I see stupid people resisting arrest I want to join in and punch their necks too. Resisting only escalates things further and doesn't help you at all.

That's stupid, in that case you'd basically always want to resist arrest since there's no legal penalty for it.
