Now that is a hot deal!

Anybody knows what drive is behind the Cendyne Label? Pionier?

It looks very much like a The "Older" Pioneer DVR-A03 . It has a 4x DVD read speed - not 6x for the newer A04. It also doesnt look to have buffer under-run protection. This may not be too good of a deal. I was hoping it was the newer A04 drive.

Hmm,

I have the "OLDER" A03, it cost me $388 shipped. I have burnt several hundred DVD's with it and have never ever had a buffer underrun.
I considered it a steal at that price and just might buy another one at this price. I would put it against any burner out there now, it is that good.

Man, did I get a lot of pop-up chit when I connected to the CDR Info Review link. Plus, I think I got some program downloaded onto my computer without even asking for it.....some sort of internet explorer searchtool..........I am going to check my computer when I am finished with this little project and delete it. Unreal. Link connector beware!!

I noticed the same thing about the CDR info website. Didn't like that one at all.

For the deal itself however, it does sound great. Have to stop by at my local OM later this week. I need something that works better for backups than CDs. HDs are getting too big nowadays, lol.

Dang, I can not find any OM coupons.

Sept1967, where did you see that $50 off $250 coupon? I tried google and I tried all of the usual coupon sites, nothing. Only thing I can find is free shipping and that is what they give you anyway.

Can anyone tell me where to find that coupon? Or can you pm me the coupon code?

Your help is greatly appreciated, I want that drive! lol

technoteaser - You linked to a HP100I, which is a dvd+rw drive. The cendyne and the hp are two different technologies, and the hp100i does not burn dvd+r, it just does dvd+rw. The cendyne is more comparable to the hp200i which does both dvd+r and dvd+rw. This is a good deal for those wanting dvd-r/w.

Hey all,
I just called OM, and they said they'd match the price and give me the coupon offer too.

After having bought the darn thing, and after having opened the packaging, the drive itself IS a PIONEER 104 drive... so the older one, but for 200 after rebate and 12$ in tax... I'm happy.

If you can't get to an OM in time tonite, go online then!!!!

I don't get it. What are you pricematching to? The price is $199 after instant coupon and rebate right.

Actually, bud, you should be very happy, because that is the newest one, not the old one. I thought they were, but that gives hope for the rest of you. I broke down and bought a 104 last week for $250, and should get it tomorrow. I'm pumped about making some DVD's. Great deal here!

To reply about the pricematching... since I forgot to mention it.
the B&M drive is priced at 350$, so I got it down to 300$ from the website's price, and will get 50$ for the rebate. So, ya I'm happy :)
and I'm happier to know that it is a newer one too!!! thanks Volfan!

I used to have a QPS dvd-r/ram but after a year. It broke down. (too much burning I guess) I just hope this Pioneer lasts me longer. (thank goodness for replacement plans!) now I gotta find 550$ worth of stuff to buy at compusa since they don't have dvd-r' drives at the B&M's anymore!!! (Hint: ATI 9700 or Geforce4's here I come!!!)

I am still trying to decide whether I should jump on this deal. My friend told me that it will take forever to burn a DVD, 4.7G will take 2 or 3 hours to do it. Can I make my own dvds that can play on dvd players? Can I copy DVD movies like copying vcd?
