I have to thank you for this deal too.

I live in VA and got it for 98 too.

Thanks again

hey..no problem. Personally, I like this one better than HP 1000.

nice! i would also like to know how this compares to the Minolta 1250W.

specs of minolta 1250W
specs of brother hl-1440

Category: Minolta 1250W | Brother HL-1440
Speed: 17PPM | 15PPM (minolta wins)
Print Technology: Electrophotographic laser | Electrophotographic laser (tie)
Resolution: 1200 x 1200 dpi | 1200x600dpi' (minolta wins)
Memory: 8MB | 2MB (minolta wins)
Paper Input: 150-sheet | 250 sheets (brother wins)

... conclusion: minolta wins!!!

they had the minolta for $150 - $100MIR = $50 + tax @ staples a few days ago. picked up one myself.

//krunk (^_^x)

It is getting cheaper to buy a new printer then to replace the cartridge. I have the brother and it works well. I barely use my inkjet anymore.

this is awesome!!!!
thank you

im gonna try it out tomorrow. but if u can host the scan, that'll b much easier for us to get the deal, with less fuss

in term of toner costs:
how much it's for the hp1000
2. minolta 1250
3. brother 1440

if you could choose between the 3 printers, which one would you choice?

The few places I've gone to today looked at me funny when I suggested the printer substitution. They only offered to sell me the display HP-1000 for 10% off.... which I laughed at. 😀

Hopefully, a post of the fax will prove back up my claim.

not to change the subject here but i asked this question under support and did not get any real answers so i will try here for all you 1440 owners.

How do you get the unit to not go to sleep because in win xp you need to wake it up before you print otherwise the printer sleeps and xp gives error messages. i have only found that you can adjust the sleep time not turn it off. this is not realistic, Help please!!!!

Wouldn't this deal rely on HP 1000 stock being gone? They aren't going to substitute a 1440 for a 1000 when they still have a 1000 on the shelf.

I'm the same way. I bought two more of those minolta laser printers for 50 after MIR/CPN at staples. The toner is like 80 bucks so why not just buy a new one🙂

Tried in Torrance, SoCal today - in person. No go. I mentioned that several folks on Anantech.com got the deal, and the manager said, "Yeah, we have problems with those guys sometimes."

I replied, "Hey, a deal's a deal, and I'd kick myself if I thought I paid more than I had to..."

He knodded but still wouldn't give me the Brother. Can anybody fax me the fax? I'm looking for a Mac-compatible laser printer. This is a much better option than the HP1000.

Thanks

I wish you didn't mention that. It might ruin future deals. They always ask me where I find these things out and I just shrug like I dunno🙂

Why would you say that? If this fax is a nation-wide recognized corporate policy, there's no slight of hand here... just a deal I should be entitled to. Nothing more...

I just ordered one brother from two undisclosed locations (will reveal when i pick up). I think word is finally getting around.

Wish me luck!

yhis can't be the way it has to be because that is unrealistic, especially in an office environment. if this is the truth than these are garbage. any other idea's?

The bother HL-1440 may have 2 meg internal, but it is highly upgradeable! You can throw in a 2,4,8,16, maybe 32-meg SIMM and it picks it right up! I put an 8-meg simm in mine for free and it had 10 meg memory 🙂

Plus, are there Linux drivers for the Minolta? The Brother is great for Linux users.

Finally! After reading the Hot Deals forums for the longest time, I find something that I both need/want and have the money for! Woohoo! GREAT DEAL! It worked without a hitch. All the employees knew what I was talking about...

Now, if any veteran HotDeal member would mind PMing me, I have 2-3 questions to ask...quick questions 🙂!

Thanks for the deal...setting up my Brother 1440 right now!

The OfficeDepot in Glendale, (Los Angeles area), has 2 brand new ones left.
had to talk to the manager, He checked his computer for HQ memos, found none. but he did honor it after calling the OD in pasadena..

The toner that came w/ the printer is often a starter one. I don't think you can get as many prints as a replacement toner.

I just went to Office Depot in La Crescenta, CA, and they didn't find anything. But thanks dealonfire!!! I'm holding for a CSR from Pasadena, CA (los angeles area).. i called, he knows what he's doing, and He says he just need to get the manager's approval to put a hold on one for me. I think i'll go there, pick up my printer and let the La Crescenta people know about this. Thanks again TimeKeeper and dealonfire!!
