It is getting cheaper to buy a new printer then to replace the cartridge. I have the brother and it works well. I barely use my inkjet anymore.

not to change the subject here but i asked this question under support and did not get any real answers so i will try here for all you 1440 owners.
How do you get the unit to not go to sleep because in win xp you need to wake it up before you print otherwise the printer sleeps and xp gives error messages. i have only found that you can adjust the sleep time not turn it off. this is not realistic, Help please!!!!

The few places I've gone to today looked at me funny when I suggested the printer substitution. They only offered to sell me the display HP-1000 for 10% off.... which I laughed at. 😀

Tried in Torrance, SoCal today - in person. No go. I mentioned that several folks on Anantech.com got the deal, and the manager said, "Yeah, we have problems with those guys sometimes."
I replied, "Hey, a deal's a deal, and I'd kick myself if I thought I paid more than I had to..."
He knodded but still wouldn't give me the Brother. Can anybody fax me the fax? I'm looking for a Mac-compatible laser printer. This is a much better option than the HP1000.
Thanks

I'm the same way. I bought two more of those minolta laser printers for 50 after MIR/CPN at staples. The toner is like 80 bucks so why not just buy a new one🙂
