Office XP -- two installs?

Sorry if this is just a damn ignorant question, but after finally building my first rig, I've been a little frustrated at not having Office on it. My laptop is what I use for school, but when I'm home I hardly ever touch it.

Is there any system in place to stop me from installing my (legal) copy of XP Office on my rig and still keeping it on my laptop?

What if I don't use them at the same time?

Maybe this is just splitting hairs with the licensing, I don't know.

Activation?

Ok, right -- So when I installed XP on the laptop, I probably went through that step. What happens if I try to install and activate on my desktop? Does it deactivate on the laptop, or just not let me install? How do I fully switch the installation, if that's what I want to do?

I don't know about Office XP, but Office Home and Student 2007 ($149) can be legally installed on three PCs. It says it right on the back of the box. This apparently does not apply to any other version of Office 2007.

If your copy of Office is a retail version, the license agreement allows you to install it simultaneously on a desktop and laptop.

If it's an OEM version (i.e. it came with the laptop), you can't (legally) install it on another machine.
