Office Max - HP ScanJet 2400 (B&M) $4.99

This is pretty hot. Not too many scanner deals lately. This is also online according to the website although the rebate isn't showing up yet.

By the way this is kind of a repost, sort of. Original post contains all deals and can be found here.

I snagged one of these. Great for 5 bucks. Takes a while to initialize though, but I'm satisfied.

Looks like a kick ass deal. Only problem is that $40 gamble on the rebate. If you get it, it's an awesome deal. If not, it's an up-the-butt deal. I have an eight year old scanner right now that works well, but for $5, seems like a good purchase in anticipation of having to replace my current scanner eventually.

Damn, that $40 gamble on the rebate really bites. I'm already hoping for the $30 rebate for the HP CD-RW drive.

I bought one yesterday at B&M. The girl at the checkout was intrigued and was considering buying one too. Then she says, "The $40 rebate scares me. They are always screwing up my rebates." All I could think of was this is great. Office Max's own employee is worried about rebates. I bought it anyway. OM got sued by the the State of Michigan Attorney General a few years ago for rebate troubles so I can always play that card if they give me problems. Good Luck.

I recently purchased the OfficeMax HP ScanJet 2400 and haven't had any trouble with previous rebates through them. Certainly can't be any worse than my Seagate 200GB fiasco.

Although not as easy and convenient as the Staples rebates, you might want to start here to register the rebate online:

Just one less chance to invite a screw up (ala Parago) ......

I have had only two major problems in all the time I have submitted a rebate at OM. I will take my chances with this one. Well worth it for a $5.00 scanner. I just thought it was funny that the cashier was bad mouthing the rebates from her own store.

From what I've seen over the years, OfficeMax rebates are generally fine - it's just really heavy rebate periods like Black Friday that give them problems.

I've never had a problem with an OM rebate...just regretting that they closed down locally. I've picked up CD and DVD burners there for $5-10 after rebate.

Zero luck needed . . . it's advertised in their flyer . . . IF you complete the rebate EXACTLY you should have NO problem with the rebate. OM rebates are reliable!

i have a [FAR] 4400USB Visioneer or i'd be all over this. 😉

The only rebate I've ever been stiffed on was a $10 rebate for a FAR phone from OfficeMax. It's one of those Curtis/Teltek models that they carry boatloads of. I think it's a decent phone for $10 and I've gotten my money's worth, but it was supposed to have been free. That experience has made me leery of OM rebates. Sure hope I get my $30 for that HP CD-RW.

Picked one up (there were a half dozen left at the store I went to) and submitted the rebate online. Very painless & efficient-almost as good as Staples Easyrebates system.

A quick semi-related question-any suggestions for scanning software? I'm primarily going to scan documents (not photos) and would like the ability to specify the directory and filename, which the software that came with this scanner doesn't seem to support.

What software come with this?
Paperport? [it should]

Would someone please give me the link to the rebate form? It's not available from Officemax's website and I couldn't find it on my PC. Thank you so much!
