"With combined purchase of a Maxtor 60GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive an ATA 100 PCI Card and 128MB SDRAM Strip you will receive $89.98 back by mail."
Rebate Form Here

With a little bit of engineering, you can get a Maxtor 60GB Hard Drive, 128MB PC133/PC100 PNY SDRAM & ATA100 PCI Card for only $95 after PM, Coupon and MIR.

Here's what I figured out. You will need to place 2 seperate orders:

Order 1
Maxtor 60GB HD (OD SKU# 923511) OD List Price: $159.99 > PM to Staples $149.98 > Apply $20 off $75 or $20 off 100 OD Coupon
Total = $129.98

Order 2
PNY 128MB PC133 RAM (OD SKU# 290441) OD List Price: $49.99 > PM to Staples $24.94
ATA 100 PCI Card (OD SKU# 673881) OD List Price (got from B&M) $49.99
Pad order to $75 using paper clips
Apply another $20 off 75 coupon
Total = $55

Order 1 $129.98 + Order 2 $55 = $184.98
$184.98 - $89.98MIR = $95 Final Cost

Hope this helps. I suggest printing out Staples web prices tomorrow for PM purposes on Sunday.

Nice, but I can't find the Maxtor ST0156000H on the Maxtor site. Is this the latest, greatest fast, quite Maxtor 7200 100?

swNYC- You da man! nice find. I've been waiting for a nice deal like this to come by. I only need the hard drive though, but maybe someone on fleabay will wants the rest, or I can give it away. Thanks.

Ouch! 2 pricematches...and waiting on $90 in rebates ("up to 10 weeks").

I would ask you to edit your title, but I guess it's long enough as is.

But thanks, anyway! 😎 This reminds me of how sparse the Internet deals have been lately. It's almost as if we are street hustlers who have to come up with an elaborate act to scrape out our existence.

Sigh... Valueamerica, Anandtech turns its lonely eyes to you.

are you sure those purchases can be on separate receipts? the rebate says to send in a "receipt" without the "s" so it may imply that you have to make the purchase together

dude,

considering i can get this drive from newegg for $110 w/no pm'ing, no complicated deal-making, and no waiting 2 months for a rebate, i'd think i'd have to call this deal "not hot". plus, with newegg i know which model i'm getting, instead of doing a crapshoot at od & getting a rebadged quantum by mistake (happened last time i did an od maxtor deal)

Joecool, before you go stomping around, remember that you would be getting an ATA/100 card as well as 128meg of memory, not just the drive. What I'm trying to say is that some people want to save as much as possible, and don't mind the hassle... that's why swNYC made this thread: he engineered a way to save some extra dollars and get more bang for the buck.

If you just need the drive, don't want the hassle, everyone knows you can pay more elsewhere with no rebate. No sense in dinging down what I think is a legitimate deal, though maybe not super hot...

But then again, I've been wrong before...

"Plus there are no quantum 60GB drives that I am aware of, wasn't 40 their biggest."

I've got 2 60GB 7200rpm Quantum Fireball Plus AS drives. Part number is QMP60000AS-A. I've had these for around 4 months, and they've treated me well so far.

I agree with joecool..very nice deal..but I was annoyedwhen I ended up with a quantum drive in Maxtor box..it gave me problems after 1 month but OD let me exchange it out..

I am not condemming quantum drives....I just got unlucky..I did have a quantum 730mg in my first computer that died after 2 yrs..starting getting bad sectors..gave it to my sisterlaw for preschool and that computer and drive are still working after 6yrs...but for my needs could not risk disk failure and it was P5-60...so it was time for a new machine went to a pii-266...6.4 gb maxtor hdd

littletemple, I wish I had DiamondMax and not Quantum. Don't get me wrong; I have had absolutely no trouble with my two Quantum 60GB drives, but I prefer Maxtor to Quantum (in fact, I like Maxtor a lot). I bought these drives at a local computer store a few months ago for $95 each (with no rebate hassles). It was a deal too hot to pass up.

I noticed that also...Staples blew off one of my rebates on just such a technicality🙁

Wait until 02/17/02 and get the WD 60GB at OM for 113 (with pricematch to 1stonweb) - $20 coupon - $30 rebate = $63 ~ $1 per gig 😀

can you elaborate on that? i would very much be interested in that deal! (otherwise, i'd buy the maxtor and fleabay the rest)

sorry cannot edit.

The WD 60 gig 7200 RPM sales for $113 here

OfficeMax online or 1-800 will pricematch and take competitors coupons, there will also be a $30 rebate on the aforementioned drive begining 02/17/02. So you pricematch OfficeMax to "here", use the best coupon you can find (you may find $25 off $100 from staples), send in the rebate and you will get the drive for the price that I previously described. $5 less if there is a staples $25 off coupon. OfficeMax does have its own coupons, if one is not available at the time of this deal use a competitors.

Since it says that it has to be a combined order I don't think you can split it up into 2 different orders...

That sure does look like an OEM drive at 1steweb which OfficeMax will not price match to. It hast to be a retail box for OM to pricematch, unless you get lucky with an unknowing customer service rep.

Does anyone actually need a ATA100 add on card? What's wrong with the built in controller on the motherboard? Well...I supposed if it's broken or something. Dunno.
