OD has a $30 MIR for the Maxtor 40GB ATA100 7200RPM Drive (SKU# 368-121) Next week (Mar. 3 - Mar. 9)

The drive model is ST0154000U, retail boxed. Some people have reported getting ATA133 drives on this forum. To increase your chance of getting an ATA133 drive, check the serial number. The new ATA133 drives have a 12-digit numeric serial numbers w/o any alphabets.

Rebate Coupon Valid 3/3 - 3/9

With a simple PM w/ Staples (SKU# 428386 $99.99) you can get it for $69.99 after MIR

For the true deal hunters, order online and request in-store pickup using a $20 off $75 coupon, and select cash payment at store. PM w/ Staples at the cashier. Net price after PM, Coupon & MIR is $129.99 PM to $99.99 - $20 Coupon - $30 MIR = $49.99

I have PMed and use coupons (at the same time) at my local OD store and the manager is cool with it.

I got 2 of the 20 gigs a while back. One shipped to me was the ATA100 and the other was ATA133, so i went to OD and told them that the drives had to be the same to run raid. The quy said he would exchange it but that i would have to exchange the one that he brought out from the back. He brought out the ATA100 box and we opended it up and it was ata133 so he just toook the ATA100 drive and i walked out of the OD with 2 ATA133 20 gig hd, so i think that the chance may be pretty goodthat you get a 133.

What are the chances of getting them to adjust the receipt so you can get the rebate? Especially with the PM and coupon..........

<< i still didnt get my rebate from last time yet. :(
it has been almost 3 month
>>

I just received my two $30 rebates today that I mailed last October! These were for the $30 OD / Maxtor 20GB & 30GB drive rebates. I had to call them six times before I finally got my checks. They initially claimed they never received either of them and then said that they were changin systems. Whatever, Expressgroup is SUX. I would rather pay $79.99 up front at Staples with a coupon and know there is no hassle pending:confused:

You'll never come close to hitting the ATA100 speed anyway, let alone ATA133. Either drive will actually perform the same way. Just an FYI :)

Not if they aren't the same drive. I'm not sure if they are the same or if they are different drives. Quantum is making some of the newer Maxtor drives.

how can you do a price match with staples when the sale at staples ends the day before this rebate is valid? this was asked before with no answer...

what is the regular price of this drive at office depot--before the rebate? if $99, then the price will be $69....no price match.. but i assume it is something like $129, right??

I did the deal last night, ordered through OD.com with the $20 off $75 coupon and COD. This morning, I came to OD, which is 3 minutes away from my home, to pick up. The nice customer service manager did the PM(Staples is selling at $99.94) even without calling Staples. So right now my total before tax is $129.99 - $30.05 - $20.00 = $79.94. And the hard drive is ATA133 DiamondMax Plus.

And I will come back on Sunday to do a rering to qualilfy the $30 rebate, which will bring my total down to $49.94. :)

According to PCMag's test, the ATA133 is a little little faster than ATA100. But if I spend the same money, I will definitely go for the ATA133. My .02.

I bought a 40gig maxtor 7200rpm a whiles back so I'm guessing its an ata100. Would I be able to run a raid set up if I were lucky enough to get the ata133? I know youre sposed to have the same hard drives for this to work...

edit: nm, above post mentioned having to have both ata133

You can get just about any store to re-ring you if there is a better deal withing a week of purchase. OD is good for that.

If you just sent in a rebate on 12/1301 then you still have a couple of months to go before you can expect to receive your OD/Maxtor rebate . When I called last week they were just starting to process the November rebates. I had to call them six times before I got my rebates from the Maxtor products that I purchased in October. 16 weeks processing is double their stated time and I will not be buying any products from OD with rebates again.

This worked for me, but I hauled the drive in from Staples (bought on Sat). I went to OD on Sunday and they gave me the PM after seeing I had the receipt and drive from Staples, and also allowed the online coupon. With rebate and tax, came out to around $56. I doubt OD will be doing this for long - but reminds me of the good ole' days at Staples
