So Office Depot has these discs on sale this week as well as Memorex DVD-R 50 PK for $77.94 also. There are coupons floating around for $15 off $50 and $20 off $75 so you could get either of these for as low as $57.94. YMMV as OD has started listing many of their advertised items as in-store specials. You can always do an online order and select in-store pickup. The last Memorex -R discs I got were CMC 2X. I was hoping someone who had used or bought these Phillips discs could post who the manufacturer was. If they are Ricoh 4X then it's a pretty good deal if you can get the AC price.

Hopefully your degree is not in mathematics. The Office Depot deal for a 50 Pack Memorex +R 4X is $57.94 if you use the $20 coupon. Of course the tax on $77.94 almost makes up the difference, but it still costs more to buy two 25 Packs at Best Buy so if it costs more it can't possibly be a better deal I believe.

Check your beliefs at the door 'cause Bush talks to GOD and actually believes he is on a mission from Him.

Anyhoo, the BB deal is still better because there are no rebates or "jumping-through-hoops" involved.

You do have to find, then type in a coupon code - I guess this is somewhat of a hoop. $58 AC ($1.10 each) seems to be a good deal on the DVD-R 4X discs.

There are no rebates. If finding an online coupon and figuring out how to use it equates to "jumping through hoops" for you then you 'll probably never make it as a professional shopper. Actually the deals are nearly equal. There happens to be an Office Depot in my town, but not a Best Buy. Of course I can order online from Best Buy and get the discs in a week. Or I can go through all that trouble with the hoops and stop by my Office Depot and pick up a spindle. Personally I like hoops and play basketball pretty often.

Wouldn't this qualify as "hoops"?
"YMMV as OD has started listing many of their advertised items as in-store specials. "

Not trying to be a dick, but you made the transaction look somewhat questionable.

No? All he's saying is you may have to order online but go pick it up at a store. "In Store Special" means its available in stores only. As stated, you can just order it and go pick it up.

If thats jumping through hoops, how is having to drive and purchase at BB any worse?

You guys can quit fighting and shut up now. It's a great deal.

I haven't had any problems getting items using online coupons and then picking them up in the store, but others have occaisionally posted that some managers required a printout of the coupon (knowing full well that they were online coupons and no printout was available). Also Office Depot has started listing some of their advertised items as instore only. Therefore the YMMV as you never know when you will run into some Office Depot manager who wants to be a dick. If you're buying instore and they try that, no one says you have to buy anything. I'd tell them where to stick them.

Office Depot must have the worst serach engine of any website I have ever used. If you search by brand and type in Phillips you don't get any hits for DVD media, but if you pull up their weekly ad and get the item # (942-778) for the Phillips discs and type that in they will come up. Also when you search for Memorex the DVD +R discs come up at $79.93 and not the $77.94 advertised price of the -R discs. I haven't been to my store since this sale started but I would assume that they were on sale for the same price. Of course I have been wrong before and will be again, no doubt.

Does anyone know if these are CMC manufactured DVD-Rs/DVD+Rs? If they are, I'd just as soon have 4X Princo for even less via mail order. But now if they are Ricoh, Ritek or Taiyo Yuden then I'm off to my local OD tomorrow AM

The 2X Memorex I have used before were CMC. These 4X +R Memorex discs are supposedly Ricoh. Not sure about the -R Memorex dicsc advertised here or the Phillips +R 4X. These -R Memorex discs are 4X though. Almost all the +R 4X discs advertised recently have in fact been Ricoh. These brands incluse Verbatim (OD), TDK (BB), and Memorex (BB). You won't find much better than Ricoh.

CompUSA has a 50 pack of DVD+R (2.4x) for $48.99. Some have reported they are Princo, others are saying LeadData. I have burned several on my 2.4x Memorex (Ricoh) drive today and have had zero coasters. Interestingly enough, DVDInfo does not report any disc manufacturer at all? That may be a limitation of the drive's firmware?

At any rate, any DVD+R Disc that is under a buck a piece and burn well works for me. :)

Here is a link to the discs: CompUSA Branded DVD+R 50 Pack

Unfortunately, it looks like the sale is over. I guess it was a 3 day only sale.

I managed to find out though that the discs are made by OPTORITE.

Hopefully they will go on sale again soon! I managed to grab two 50 packs before the sale was over so I don't think I'll need blank DVD's for quite some time.
