Office Depot is offering 50 Office Depot Brand 80min 16x CDRs for $9.99.
My friend and I actually found the deal by accident. We went to the 41st
OD in NY to get the other deal posted about 50 Kingstin CDRs for $8.99. The
Chinese guy said they ran out of them because they were so hot. I think it
he had a nice day or somethin, but he hinted about a new offer about the
Office Depot Brand CDRs, 50 cdrs for 9.99. Took the thing to the counter,
and they really did rang it for 9.99. Bought 4 spindles of them.
They said you need a coupon to get the offer, but if you bug
em a lil, they'll give it to you anyway :)

I think it was Office"Max" that had the 50 Kingston CDR's for $8.99, at least that's where I bought mine today. But I guess that's a fairly similar deal if that's 50 for $9.99 at OfficeDepot, if you can't find the others for $8.99 at OM.

For the 50 pack at OM there is no coupon required, it rings up at $8.99 at the register. Kingston Hypermedia 50 pack, 700MB 16X

Bought 4 spindles of them.

Ah, any chance you could cdr-ident these OD brand for us? The ODs I bought about 3/4 months ago had an "unknown" manufacturer (but they burned w/o problems).

CooleyAndy, did you mistake Office Max with Office Depot? Put your brain in gear before posting, because you have people making special trips to the store to get your "deal."

Just for the record in case anyone is interested here is what CDR Identifier says about the $8.99 Kinston CD-r's from Office Max

ATIP: 97m 26s 66f
Disc Manufacturer: CMC Magnetics Corp.
Reflective layer: Dye (Short strategy; e.g. Phthalocyanine)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)

They are rated at 16x adn the back of them are almost silver with a slight greenish cast. They are the lightest colored cdr's I've ever seen. (Not that that means anything).

I just burned two music cd's and they seem OK.

Which store are you off to? Argh...Cooley Andy still hasn't explained whether he meant Office Max or Depot, or whether anybody else can get this dubious "special price" from a salesperson.

Anyway, credit should go to the other two threads that presented the legitimate Office Max deal in the first place.

I think he does mean Office Depot -- they have a store on 41st St. in NYC, which is where he said he bought the CDRs. Office Max does not have a store there.

edit: Whoops - redundant post. Great minds ...

Well, there is a office depot on 41st. And there is a Office Max in NYC. It's in Brooklyn though. I am sure u can get the address from their website. And they had a lot of them left. I just came back from getting them. they are on aisle 11 not 7 like they posted at the door. 48.66 for 5 of them.

Hum, I hope my OD has them at this price, would make the $15 off $50 coupon they sent me today really useful now :).

:confused:Ok -- I went to the 41st St. Office Depot. They told me the CDRs were behind the counter (which they were -- store brand spindles of 50), but they did not ring up with the discount. They rang up for the posted shelf price of $29.99. The clerk was very friendly and tried scanning various packages. She said a lot of people had been in there looking for this deal because it had been on "Compuserve or something like that".

Anyone else?

As I said before: "CooleyAndy, did you mistake Office Max with Office Depot? Put your brain in gear before posting, because you have people making special trips to the store to get your "deal.""

Folks, this is why rules and common sense matter on this forum--because our collective time is valuable.

As for the Kingstin deal, yea I guess it is at Office Max, and NOT
Office Depot, 4 hours of sleep can do that to a guy...however, my friend
and I did get 4 spindles of Office Depot CDR for 9.99 each at 41st NYC.
Anyone who went there, see if you can look for a guy named Rey (chinese guy), that's the person I spoke to to get the discount. When I gave the CDR to the cash register, they told me it was 29.99, until Rey came and told them to price override it to 9.99.

To the people who thought I still have half a mind, thanks.

Thanks, CooleyAndy. I believed you, I just wasn't able to find the price myself. I'll try again!
