I already have Office 2000 Premium installed. It's overkill for my needs, not to mention an overbloated program. Ditto Office XP.
Office 97 suits my needs better. Where can I buy a legitimate OEM CD at a steal price?

Um, Office 97 and 2K are practically the same...I don't know why you'd want to move backwards? It will just cost you more money.

BTW-On Pricewatch, the lowest price for Office 97 SBE is $125 and the lowest price for Pro is $280.

The one reason I would want Office 97 again would be the "Save as HTML" feature in Word 97. It didn't throw in so much CRAP and did a pretty decent job. In the office where I work, we have one machine that's ancient and all it has on it is Word 97.

Yeah, but you also didn't get an HTML document that was formatted even close to how the .DOC file was.

I got a new full version Office '97 Pro from a 'mom & pop' computer store last year for $35. It has already saved me more than that when I upgraded to FrontPage2000.

I'd say look around in the bargain bins. Also check out #9 Software and Direct Deals for the lowest price on (legal) software. Occasionally they offer Office '97 for cheap ($125 is the cheapest I can find now).

You can always use StarOffice. It handles Office documents just fine. I've been using this program for more than a year now after having used Office 95 and 97 first. StarOffice is just much better IMHO.
