Office 2010 key not working?

So...I just installed a new SSD into my laptop, and I'm trying to install Office 2010 professional plus but it wont work.

I lost the disc to Office 2010 PP forever ago, but prior to installing my new drive i used a program to find the product id and product key. So, i went and downloaded a trial version of it, tried to put in the key, but it wont work.

Am i missing something? Thanks guys!

Further to the thread you posted here

My answer is still:

You might have had a a volume license key and you were trying to enter it into the retail version of Office Pro 2010.

You need to ensure you download the right version according to your key

Heh, weird, didn't see you at both forums. Where could I download a volume license copy?

You are not going to find a free download source for any of the Microsoft volume license products.

You'll have to either get a copy from your original source of your key, or get it from somebody who has a copy of the install media or installation file. If you know someone who has a Technet or MSDN account, the installation media for Office Professional Plus is also available there as a download.

Yup, this sucks. It looks like the only wa might be to download it illegally and then replace that key and id with mine, which I really don't feel like doing. Ugh.

At one time, CDW was selling an Office 2010 Professional Plus media kit for like $15 (no license, just install media). I don't know if they still are, and I can't guarantee that it would work with your key. However, it might be worth a google search.

I wouldn't use Open Office even if you paid me! Nothing even comes close to MS Office.

Matrix leader, I want to give you a hug lol. :awe: I'll have to try this out as soon as I get home. I had to sign up for technet (made up a bunch of bs info) to download office pro plus and then I googled around and found direct download links provided by Microsoft (mydigitallife) if you're not part of technet/msdn. Oh well, didn't take too long.

I'll report back as soon as I do this! Thanks sooo much matrix!!

You're welcome bro... after you convert it to a volume license , I assume your key should work because I only know there are retail keys and volume license keys, it seems like you have a volume license key from the way it seems...
I hope you can get this resolved 🙂

Matrix, you are the man! The installation worked fine once I converted the type to a volume license. Thanks so much (again...this is like the 10th time lol) bro!

I nominate Matrix Leader for poster of the year.

Open Office is not that bad. It does everything I need.

Sure it can, but the UI sucks

Plus, I don't want to learn how to use an office suite, only to go to work and use Office since 99% of the companies use MS office

I bought my MS Office 2010 Professional Plus for $10 USD on a special employee discount through my company 🙂 Can't complain about anything there 🙂

Lol. I'll reserve my judgment since I'm not an expert in either one, but it sounds like you just enjoy trashing Open Office 🙄

Well I've used it around 3 to 4 years ago and tried getting used to it but absolutely hated it! I felt myself using a computer for the first time. Then I didn't try using it but I always see people complaining about its interface.

I mean Office has been there since ages, we all are familiar and happy with its interface, bet it the old Office 2003 or the latest 2010 iteration, thye are a bit different to each other but they still give you that @ home feeling

Ok, ok, haha. If you used it and didn't like it, I have no problems with that. Sorry, wasn't trying to troll. It's just your earlier post sounded like a little flame 😀
