After installing and trying office 2003 didn't work out for me so I uninstalled it.
Went back to office 97 . Now when I save an exel file I get an annoying message that says
THis file was created using a later version of Microsoft Exel.If you save this file using MS Exel 97, information created .....may be lose
To retain..... Bla....Bla ect...

Anyone know ... short of reformating how to kill this ANNOYING message

This always seems to happen with MS products. I think it's a way of forcing people to upgrade because they can't open files that other people send them.

In any case, if there is data missing, short of using a text editor to retrieve the data and splice it into an older excel file, I think the only thing you can really try is to get someone with office 2003 to see if there is an option to save the file so it's compatable with office 97, then send it to them and have them do that.

As for the message, does it happen with files you create using the older version, or only files you have worked on with excel 2003? Is it all files, or only the more complex files? Have you actually noticed anything wrong with them?

If it only happens with files you have worked on with 2003, you could try just creating a new spreadsheet and copy/pasting everything into it. Sorta ghetto but it should work.

If it is happening with everything, then there were probably some files editing when you did the upgrade that didn't downgrade when you uninstalled... uninstall the entire MS Office suite and reinstalling it may fix things in this scenerio.
