Office 2000 hosed my system, any ideas would be appreciated!

I needed to edit my resume tonight, but didn't have Office loaded, so I grabbed my Office 97 and 2000 cd's and proceeded to install 97 first, followed by 2000. Office 2000 is just an upgrade disc, so I had to load 97 first. After rebooting, I got a fatal exception error BSOD. Nothing I've tried has eliminated the error message. The only way I can get on the net is by changing startup in msconfig to Diagnostic. It sucks because my resolution is limited to 640X480. I tried unchecking everything related to Office in the startup tab in msconfig as well. My Windows 98 CD is at my parents house so I can't reinstall, and I have Win2k Pro but the CD is missing🙁 Any ideas on how to remedy this without a format/reinstall? Thanks!

Err, beta software is bad :|

j/k. In any case, are you using the genuine MS CDs? If so, check the underside. Are the CDs virtually scratch-free?
