Office 2000 help needed!

I have an older PC that has two HDDs. The primary HDD [C:] doesn't have much free disk space left--maybe 150MB at the most. The secondary HDD [D:] has at least 1GB free.

When I try to install Office 2000 to D:, it tells me that I don't have enough space available on--get this--the C: drive. Anyone know how I can get around this?

I can't free up enough disk space on C: since it's a rather small drive (500MB) and most of that is occupied with Windows 95. I would rather not swap drives (e.g. make the larger disk the primary, have to reinstall everything, etc.), if I don't absolutley have to...

Any ideas?
 
First, are the HD's 2 actual separate hd's of are they 1 drive partitioned into 2 separate drives?
 
Even when you try an install on the slave, windows like to install a lot of it on C: because of .dlls, drivers, and shared system files.

The only thing I can think of for you to do is try and find anything to delete on C:

Possible *.old or *.-- or some *.log files or maybe temp files. How much space do you have devoted to history and temporary internet files in IE (if you use IE)?
 
Just like Az says dude, Office installs files into your Windows/Winnt directory.

Here's your choices...

- Clean up your C drive
- Get a bigger HD for C (How long do you REALLY think you can survive with that skimpy capacity?)

Of course if you REALLY want to put the files in the D drive, that's easy...Just reformat your hard drive and choose to install Windows whatever on the D drive instead...Then when you install Office, it'll go in D.
 
So there isn't an easy workaround, eh?

Unless anyone else has any ideas, I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and swap drives. ARGH!!! I wonder how long it will take to install Windows 95, Office 2000, and all the other miscellaneous junk on this P166 w/ 32MB RAM...
 
You've probably already done this, but if not then move your Windows swap file to somewhere on your second physical drive. This will free up some space on C:
