You know that scene where he's trying to get his powers back, and he jumps off the building only to fall to the ground? Was that supposed to be a tribute to the matrix "whoa" shot? The setup and some of the shots seemed pretty similar, not to mention the concept of it...

Watch the first movie again, it was a tribute to it. 😛

3 1/2 *** out of 4

I was very glad that the movie ended the way that it did.
I would have been pissed if he was still the celibate superhero.

::SPOILER QUESTION::
So anyone know why his powers were fading in the middle of the movie? I thought it was because deep down inside he didn't want to be spiderman ...

maybe it has something to do with the Fusion experiments...

He was confused as to what he wanted. He thought he wanted a normal life, but then realized that he can never lead a normal life, so he became Spidey again.

This movie was over-hyped. I thought it was just okay, as did the people I saw it with. I personally think Spiderman 1 was better. This movie was good, don't get me wrong, but it was not spectacular IMO. The fight scenes were awesome though, and I'll love to see as to how they did that when the DVD comes out. Effects were great in general. However, the movie just didn't do it for me like I was hoping, as it was very hyped up and I expected more out of it.

I welled up during the train scene where the people started caring for Spidey....very touching moment.

The actress that plays Aunt May is incredible! She's such a good actress, yet I've never noticed her in anything else. Oh, and JJ Jameson just has to show his face on the screen and you laugh---GREAT character! I laughed, I cried, I wanna see it again!!!

yeah the train scene, i really felt that scene..

You two are a couple of p***ies 🙂

Shut up and give me a tissue 😀

That's what my housemate said when Kirsten Dunst was wet with nipple pokies at the end of the movie. He LOVES that woman.

Bring back the HOBGOBLIN!! Or SANDMAN!!

They should go through these char's before getting to Venom, if they do it chronologically 😉

Eh, you're opinion is the minority, but to each his own.

right now, I don't think anyone knows...

they intruduced 3 possible bad guys in this movie:

1. return of green goblin (harry)
2. the lizard (Dr. Conners)
3. venom (astronaut)

The Spiderman story line involves the HogGoblin, who was the son of the Green Goblin, so that'll probably be where they go with it. The friend vs friend storyline there has a lot of potential.

How many people here would have gone APESH*T at the planetarium when Peter finally got a glass and it was empty? LOL

Performance anxiety. It happens to all of us.

So I've been told.
😉

I heard Tobey is only doing 3 movies... hopefully they'll end the series with the 3rd movie. if that's the face, the Hobgoblin storyline would be the best to finish it up.

Hopefully. At this point, I think I've identified Tobey McGuire so much with Spider-Man that no other actor could fill his shoes. Same thing that happened with Batman -- the movie series got especially craptastic after they recast the role.

I dunno, at times I was wondering how Jake Gyllenhall (who was going to be the replacement if Maguire couldn't do it) would've done in the role. Tobey bugs me sometimes, heh. Plus, they look similar enough to each other.

ok saw this movie last night with the gf.

one word: AWESOME!

i think this is the best superhero movie i've seen...prolly best superhero movie ever made. this movie had everything - awesome fight scenes, funny scenes, touching heartfelt scenes (even though at some times they did go overboard with the touching scenes...spiderman being carried on people's hand after saving train), and some nice MJ scenes (Kirsten Dunst is HOT)

as for his power loss....i remember in the cartoons he started losing his power once cuz apparantly he was mutating or something. i dunno....i never read the comics but watched the cartoons a while back. but i thought he's supposed to start losing his powers a LOT later into the storyline...oh well.

oh and i totally forgot about Venom and carnage! them vs spidey would kick ass but most likely they will make spiderman 3 with the hob goblin (little osborne)

and doesnt MJ die or something in the cartoons?

Anybody have a link to a good big discussion on a movie forum? I'm interested in the "bonuses" that were in the movie, like Dr. Conners, Stan Lee, Bruce Campbell...I was trying to catch as many things as possible, but I'm sure I missed some. Kind of like how X2 had so many extras for the comicbook fans.

was that supposed to symbolize Jesus or what?

Overall, a 4.5/5. Way too much talking about in retrospect, it was necessary to build up the story and the character development. This movie seemed more like a random comedy about the life of Peter Parker than Spiderman 2. Albeit, a very enjoyable comedy.
