Yea, I took everyone but the kids and stuck them on the bench.

I'm into disk 3 now and the game continues to impress me with its much varied environments. The city Gazah (sp?) is remarkable, so far. Though the game suffers from a frame rate drop during some of the panoramic views, it's hard not to be impressed by its sheer beauty.

Looking forward to seeing where things go from here.

Ya, I have been doing the same thing. The only real reason I want to fight with my mortals is so they level and unlock more skills for my immortals to learn. It's a shame that the members who are not fighting with me do not gain any XP. It basically adds more of a grind to game which isn't that terrible because I enjoy leveling to a degree but still.

I made it to the final disk (4) yesterday! I feel like this is a significant acheivement for me. Not because the game is boring or bad, but because....well....it's taken my about 50 hours to get here and it's freak'n disk FOUR! 😛

I really wish we had spoiler text here.

After hitting disk four and going through the Ancient Ruins, it was apparent that I needed to be a little more powerful. So, as a word of advice to you guys, make sure that you've reached level 45 (minimum) by the time you're done with the Ancient Ruins.

If you are under level 50, go to the Numara Atoll. Battle the mobs there, which are mostly Hell Shakers, as they give you a TON of XP. My guys were leveling almost after every battle until around Level 50. Use ground attacks.

Anyway, just wanted to save everyone some trouble and give you a heads up.

Yea, I'm on disc 4 as well. Not only should you find a nice place to level up all your guys (and make sure you acquire skills and use Sed for all the double skills!) but make sure you visit every single town you went to and talk to everyone. You'll see new dreams, get tips on treasures and other optional monsters and quests...etc.

Crap. You just reminded me that I didnt level everyone--just the people in my party that I plan on using.

**SPOILER BELOW**

Also, dont forget to go back to the sorcerer's mansion to battke Persona, the secret boss, that gives Sarah her lost notebook. It grants a pretty cool spell--Absorb Fire. 🙂

I did it. It's done. It took me a total of 65 hours of game time to beat the game. I have to say that the game was truely epic in many senses of the word. Really well done! There were some issues with the game, but overall I would have to say that this is probably the best JRPG I've played in a looooong long time.

I wish we had some spoiler text here. :/

I think I may just go finish the game up today. I still have some treasure hunting to do and I didn't bother with the Temple of Enlightenment but I'm just getting a bit tired of the game. I did all the optional bosses as well (except of course the Temple dude).

Nice. What level are you guys? I hit the final battle with my guys at level 70. Needless to say, at that level it was pretty simple.

The ending was great, btw. 🙂

I decided to start the Temple of Enlightenment anyways..LOL All but two of my guys are in the mid 60's. I'll assume that I'll be in the 70's when I'm done with the Temple. All my guys are immune to freakin everything though some of those Temple enemies take off quite a healthy amount of hp off my party. I think after the temple I'll decide on my final 5 member party to beat the game. I'm thinking Kaim, Seth and Sed for offense and Jansen, Ming for magic duties.

..oh..and Tolten is such a puss. I cannot stand him one bit.

Hrm, let me offer some advise without spoiling too much. So skip this if you do not want any hints or help--but I figure it might save you some time and (some possible) frustration.

SPOILERS

- The temple of enlightment has some really awesome foes in it. Particularly speaking, the Hellish Keleon is the best. If you beat him, he will level everyone in your party no matter what level they are.

- Be sure you have one of your guys equiped with the skill "Turn Tail", so you can skip the fights with any other mob that could possibily wipe you (very possible). Stick with hunting the Hellish Keleon.

- Include all your immortals in your party along with Jansen. Once Jansen hits a certain level (55?), he will gain the ability "Double-cast". Link to this skill with Ming and Sarah, so they all can use it. Once obtained, you will mow through the mobs and level even quicker.

- Save and save often if you already dont.

- The mobs inside the temp are worth much for XP than the ones outside the door.

- Obtain the skill, Double SP and Double Experience from Sed fror obvious reasons.

- Make sure all your immortals are close to level 70 or higher. 😉

I got that all covered dude! All my immortals have each mortal character skill plus all the slot accessories (like 18 with just 3 accessories plus all the slotseeds) so I have all the double stuff, immunity to every element and condition..etc. I think 3 of my immortals have 27 slots..lol The only way I'll get beat is with power magic (ie: forceus, leveled..etc) or with uber strong physical attack. My party is fairly stacked though one thing I didn't do much was level 3 rings. I have only 3 of those but lots of other powerful rings because I finished off all the optional bosses and other hidden stuff.

I haven't bothered with the backyard stuff either.

When I finished my WoW daily quests this past weekend, I decided I'd try out Lost Odyssey finally as I've had it but never played it. Well, all was going fairly well.. battles weren't too hard and the accessory that I got from EB Games Pre-order is overpowered (guarding half the time ftw).

Then I met everyone's favorite metaphorical cockblock that was mentioned a few times in this thread... the second boss. It wouldn't be so bad if Jansen didn't have around 300 hp and the guy's AoE does 250 damage!

I got an idea though... I want to try to treat Kaim and Seth as support and Jansen as main DPS. Flare does 250-300 damage each time, which is more than the two can do with normal DPS.

Was pretty annoyed at it over the weekend... sentiment was essentially, "The Odyssey can stay $%#$ing Lost" 😱.

Is the second boss the gigantic worm? I dont recall exactly.

That flying beast thing on your way to Grand Staff. You fight him at the top of the hill overlooking the staff.

I think my 2x support 1x dps role will work though... if this were WoW, I'd tell the tank to face him away from the group !

Oh man, that guy ganked me about 7 times before I beat him. Turned out I needed to go back and level my guys to around level 14 to beat him. 🙂

I refuse to level my characters to beat him... I will persevere! 😛 Unfortunately for my plan, I will need White Magic on Kaim, so I kind of need to do some battles to get his Skill Link for that up (he's already learning it I think...).

Man, I would just save myself the time and frustration (the leveling doesnt take that long, just walk back and forth in the rainy area) and level as it will benefit you throughout the game--you're going to have to do it some time. 😉

I'm 90% through the game and only have one critical complaint. I think its very annoying having more characters than you can use in one party, especially when some of the characters are super dull/useless.

Tolten does have a lot of good skills to steal though. (Kaim + royal equip + king sword thingy + ultimate hit)

I have to admit that I thought it was a little bit of a pain to juggle all the characters. I sometimes would spend too long trying to figure out who I wanted in my part so I could level them. But, this has been in RPGs for a very long time. I remember doing this back in FF3--not that that makes it ok.

Tolten was kinda meh. He does have one very valuable use though. If you do his side quest and obain his legedary sword, you can use Kaim to leech his skill to use it and then hand it off to Kaim. Best sword in the game. 🙂

so what do you guys think of the game then? im thinking of picking this up and i bought blue dragon (beat it and it was meh). i really love jRPGs so im excited about one on the 360

I played through both games and LO felt like a much more epic experience. It's pretty much better in every way.

If you're into JRPGs--absolutely! It's a pretty big time sink, especially if you consider doing some of the side stuff. I opted out of most of the sidequest stuff and it took me about 60 hours to completed from beginning to end.

There are some really great moments in this game. Definitely the best JRPG I've played this generation so far (in North America, I dont import or play a lot of JRPGS).
