Fix : Traded it in for the XBOX version.
640x480 low detail? No mods? No thanks :)

Hey it works.

BSODs ? Random locks ? No thanks :)

And lets be real here, it dosnt look that good on the PC to begin with, its a port. Now if we were going the other way UT, Doom, etc I would tend to agree.

Noticed a new one, not major but a bug nonetheless - sometimes the radio doesn't engage my subwoofer. Kinda funny listening to Dr. Dre's Nothin' But A G-Thang without it :p I'll keep listening and update this post if I notice any patterns (ie. particular songs or radio stations, or if it happens after certain events).
Sure you aren't on a motorbike? It sounds more tinny there
 That's it, I guess I'm too used to Vice City.
The sound quality changes depending on what kind of vehicle you're in. There's a setting in the Audio options to switch this off if it bugs you.

I get the crashes, sound probs, lock-up. I havent had a BSOD. I have a 9800 pro and when a crash or lock up happens I Alt-Tab or crtl-alt-delete and when VPU error pops up I select dont send and then I go right back into the game where I left off with no probs. I have read that you should turn off VPU recovery in the catalyst but whenI did that the system locked hard. With it on, I always can recover without restarts and right were I left off. I notice the hookers dont make any "sounds" when you pick them up and do the nasty. I wonder why they left those sounds out on the PC version. I also tried the Hot Coffee patch, but CJ was a bit too anxious so I removed it. :). And whats up with the no force-feedback on the PC?

Does anyone even know if Rockstar is making a patch? Their websites suck and dont even acknowledge any issues! And the other GTASA sites make no mention of the patch, just all the bugs (except the hooker getting laid lack of sounds). Oh well, its nice to play in Hi-res at least. PLayed the PS2 version a few times.

Eh, the bugs are nowhere near as bad for me personally as for some unlucky others, and it's not a straight port like VC, it was enhanced & looks quite a bit better. I already own a PC (two actually) - why would I buy another specifically to play a game which my other two could handle? Especially an old, slow & overpriced one which isn't upgradeable?

Yup. And its a total lack of effort port. R* put ZERO effort in this port, like all the others. After games like HL2, SC:CT, DIII and FC this game is just utter sh!t visually.

No more in-game mouse look, but mouse works fine otherwise. This bug affects EVERY saved game.

Used ONE cheat to get rid of that stupid rain effect that R* thought would add to game play. That was DAYS ago, in game play time. Nothing else unusual has happened and nothing unusual in the game may have led to it. I do like to alt+tab out to look at maps, read email, browse the web, etc, but this cant be the problem since SA has a memory footprint on par with FF for christ sake.

To solve the mouse look problem, press ESC (go to the menu) and then go back to the game.
Works for me every time.

Edit: beside this "problem", I've had zero issues with the game (and I've played the game for 40+ hours).

Actually, Vice City was a straight port, aside from a few user-changeable options and >640x480 resolution. SA might not look as good as, say, Far Cry - but it looks far better than Vice City did. It's not a straight port; they put in some better textures and lighting effects.
