Sadly, that seems to be the case. Funny, he gives up way more hits than IP... but the Sox can't fecking hit him 🙁. I really thought that when damon had that long at bat, something was about to be started, but no.

Putting that much faith in Bronson Cornrows Arroyo and Tim Wakefield? They are fine but Bronson Cornroyo is gonna have to pitch the game of his life.. will he stand the pressure? Wakefield is just a total anamoly.. either he's got the knuckler going or its flat and he's dead meat.

Quite funny how you think that's how this is working. In all honesty, if you do that to the best offense in the league, they'll get you. Fact is, yesterday the bullpen faltered, and today the Sox were dominated by Lieber. Hopefully they can get back in the series in Boston, and Schilling ends up being able to pitch again.

Things are looking good for NY. Lieber pitched a HECK of a game tonight.

We left too many men on base tonight, and Flash was erratic.

No rational person would think that (is meant mostly in jocularity). Most of what the Sox are battling unfortunately are two forces that no team can contend with - karma and fate.
 
That and it seems like very time they face Mussina they lose... And the past two times they've seen Lieber they haven't been able to figure him out (he's not a BAD pitcher, but he's not nearly as good as the Sox have made him look). Annoying to say the least. If Brown dominates us, it's gg.

He has a much lower ERA vs the Yankees than either Schilling or Pedro. Of course, unless Arroyo has the game of his life, or the Red Sox offense explodes, game 4 won't matter. I am fairly confident in game 4 matchup of Wakefield vs Vazquez, and its possible we can get this back to 2-2. After that is where the problem starts.

I must say, if the Sox DO end up winning the series, they chose an interesting and unexpected way to do it. Though what chance either of these teams has against the Cardinals is yet to be seen.

Please. The bullpen faltered yesterday for Boston? Schilling was hurt, and he couldn't pitch well. They were losing 6-0 before the bullpen got involved .

Don't forget, the yankees also left alot of men on base.

I don't think Pedro pitched so great tonight. You saw alot of really high pitches, stuff way out of the strikezone... it looked like he had some trouble gripping the ball. I thought I saw him at one point lick his entire hand and then go over to the rosin bag to get some grip. (He did have some really nice backdoor curveballs though)

I don't know too much about Arroyo... what kind of pitches does he throw? Sinkerball? Fastballs? What is his out pitch?

Meh. Holding a potent Yankees offense to 3 runs in 7 innings is just about the most you can expect out of him. The offense failed him.

Interestingly enough, Arroyo has not lost to the Yankees this season. The Sox have managed to win all 4 of his starts.

The Sox have to sweep at Fenway IMO to have a shot at the series. I don't see us beating both Lieber and XXXX in games 6 and 7.

That was my point. You can't complain about the Sox leaving men on base as the difference in the series. The yanks have left lots of men on base too.

Sorry, we'll agree to disagree. Pedro did NOT look sharp to me tonight at all.

I'll take my chances with Arroyo. If you would have asked any yankees fan, we were worried about Game 1, and regardless of Pedro's recent streak against us, Game 2.

The real question mark for the Yanks right now is how healthy is Kevin Brown's back. Last time out in Boston, he got shelled, then his next 2 starts he pitched significantly better (one vs Toronto, and one vs Minny in the ALDS)

What's up with Damon? He looks lost up there batting.
