Offers for Credit Cards

Who gets these?

2.9%, 0%, up to $50,000, no payment for 12 months, etc., etc!

I must have at least one or more EVERY SINGLE DAY in the mail. It's like I could have a hundred cards if I wanted.

sheesh!

I remember reading somewhere, there is a way to get yourself taken off the list. Does anyone know about this. Where can I send a letter to get removed from that TRW list, or whatever it is.

I received one the other day that touted "Up to $2000 credit line!!" Thanks, but I have two with a total over $10K.

The fine print always makes for interesting reading. I received a Chase offer yesterday that said that the initial percentage rate was approximately 14.5% but if you were late on one payment on that card OR ANY OTHER CARD OR LOAN OR FINANCIAL OBLIGATION, the rate would go to 20+%. LOL! Gee, sign me up!

American Express Blue is the best card I've ever owned, and the customer service is second to none. I also have First Union but am probably getting rid of that since they just sold out to MBNA, and another MBNA card offer I have benefits The Nature Conservancy so I'll probably switch (great environmental group, BTW).

Stay away from First USA! (it even rhymes! 🙂 )

How am I pre-approved if I don't got a job? it should be the "you're getting this cause we got your address somewhere"

You know some banks are rats.. I try and pay off all at once.. but they sometimes sneek in a financial charge fee .. when that shoundt be there unless you break your payments up.

I had one of those cards that jack up the interest rate if you miss one payment. I sent my payment but it arrived late (thanks a lot USPS). It was because of the 4th of july thing.. it basically delayed my payment. Anyway the next statement came up with 24% APR.. I said WTF.

I dont use that card but still keep it since it can come in as an emergency. Since I dont pay in parts, it really doesnt matter. My credit history is good.. and I am cautious.. but 24% really sucks.

My other cards are like 12% or less.

My wife (who has poor credit), will also get the offers from time to time. She'll send them in, only to be told SORRY!, which is just fine with me. She doesn't need them.

When she does get declined (even after sending in a pre-apporved application), we turn around and request them to provide a credit report, or whatever information they used to reject it.

This takes me back to my original quesiton. I know there is an address I can write to so my name won't come up on these various mailing lists credit card companies use.

bet those guys over at www.fool.com know?

Funnily enough I've just started receiving a few credit card offers, which is sadly ironic, given that I'm poorer now than I have been in over a year or so 🙁 Still, I somehow don't think I'd have the self control were I to get a card, so it's prolly for the best 🙂

IB: Try calling the credit bureaus directly. I think that's how you do it, though I think there is a charge (might be confusing this with something else). Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union.

I'm 16 yrs old and I've been getting these for a while. If I had signed up for all these (and they didn't do a background check), I could've had a high enough credit limit to buy cuba by now.
