Yesterday I built my first computer, and I can't get video on it. I've tried a bunch of stuff, but nothing seems to fix it. I'm making an offer to someone that wants to be $20 richer, that can talk to me directly (MSN or AIM) and help me out. I'm not in the USA right now, so the only way I can pay you is by paypal, so don't bother if you don't have PAYPAL. I'm only paying AFTER the problem is fixed and of course, it was YOU that suggested to fix the X problem. It's a small job, and maybe it's only going to take 10 minutes of your time.

I did everything right building it (im pretty sure lol).

You already have a post open for this, so you shouldn't have started a new one. I was trying to help, but you did not answer any of my questions. If you don't respond to peoples questions how can they help you? I need to know what chipset you have, and I asked if you had the square 4 pin 12v connector plugged in to the motherboard. I'll help you as best as I can, but you need to give more info, we aren't psychic.
 
List all your specs, cpu,motherboard,psu,videocard,etc. Explain what if anything you have tried, that would be a good start. Also welcome to the forums.

Hey sorry! Yesterday I was on my brother's computer and since we are in france, he has a french keyboard. I finnaly got back on my computer with the normal USA keyboards 🙂 ! Sorry about that!

I have a P4 2.8ghz for LGA775 BOARDS ONLY!
And yes I do have a 4pin 12v plugged into the motherboard.

And I tried starting up the other thread but I couldn't find it? Did someone delete it? I went back a few pages but I couldn't find it... Unless threads just fade that fast on this forum lol 🙂

psu is a 400w ANTEC
video card is a 9000 PRO RADEON, im actually waiting for my 9800 pro in the mail, so im using my current one (the one on this computer).
Then I just have a basic CD-RW and PC-3200 512mb stick.

Hrmm, i've tried putting in anohter video card. Another HDD (im planning on using THIS HDD thats on this computer for my new computer, so im using this one). I've also unscrewed the mobo back to see if there was a loose screw shorting the mobo. I think that's about it.

EDIT: How would you know if anything is fried by the way? How would you know if you just fried it? Would it spark or something? What would happen when you try and boot it up?
 
Well that motherboard has an LED that shows error codes, are you getting any codes on the led? What brand and wattage is your PSU. Since I don't have the info from your first thread, what video card are you using. Memory? Are you getting any beep's when you start up? Have you tried booting with minimums..1 stick of ram, cpu/fan and heatsink, and video card, with no drives hooked up?

Yeah it gives me codes, but just like blatantly stupid stuff like XCODE TRANSPLANT 934FOC or something rediculous like that in the manual. Sometimes the codes doesn't even have a definition in the manual, it usually says 77 after about 10 seconds, and 77 doesn't have a defintion. It always has differnet codes though, it's never the same one 🙁

my PSU is an ANTEC 400W OUTPUT. Yeah i've tried it and I think it made a long beep.
 
Ok, try booting it up with no memory, and see if it beeps at you. Then put the memory back in and try it with no video card.

Hrmm!?! My video card is a RADEON 9000 PRO i'm not sure what AGP XX slot though! I'll try and google it.

UPDATE: I found this.

It says "Interface: AGP 2x/4x" Does this mean a card like that would just leave the monitor blank? I also tried my brothers Radeon 9200 and it didn't work, I guess i'll google that too lol 🙂
 
a 9000 pro should work fine in an 8x slot. they were refering to the realy old 3.5v agp cards. Have you tried the video card in another system?

also heres a kind of random question

i got these SERIAL ATA little cords, what is that?

i also got what this looks like adapter, it says SERILLEL O on it. it plugs into what looks like the HDD backslot thing, the other side has 2 entrances, one with 4 white pins, and the other side is a wide and atroit opening, comparable to a USB plugin.
 
Here's one suggestion

If you can put all your hardware on another motherboard and see if its works, then you can confirm if your motherboard is fried

If it doesn't work on another motherboard, then start replacing items one by one, like using your old video card with everything else that is new and do this until you find the culprit

Here's a checklist to see if you have connected everything right

1) put your processor in the slot and heatsink on top of it, make sure its plugged in right, plug the heatsink fan to the power
2) main power cord from PSU to motherboard (i think its 12 pins, the biggest one anyway)
3) secondary power cord (the 4 pin plug)
4) put in all the video cards, memory, sound card and whatever cards u have
5) if your video card requires a power supply, plug that in
6) plug in your ide cables
7) plug the other end of your ide cable to your HDD and plug in the power supply for it
8) plug the rest of the ide cables to their respective peripherals like cd-rom and plug in the power supply for them
9) plug everything else on the outside to their respective ports, monitor, power supply..
10) power it on

note: make sure all required jumper settings are correct

Well I know the Video card works and HDD work since im using them on this computer. I also know the RAM works since I was using it 2 days ago. The CD-ROM also works since i was also using it 2 days ago.

What is left? I can't test the CPU because its an LGA775 socket one so I can't test it with any of my old mobo's.

Isn't there some test thing to see if your mobo is fried? I doubt it's fried though, I didn't do anything wrong! 🙁

If you didnt get beeps with just your cpu and mobo... its fine. For some reason though it doesnt like something about your video card. Do you have another one kickin around to try?
 
The motherboard you have has serial ATA. It's a different hard drive interface. The Sirillel adaptor lets you connect an IDE drive to a serial ATA port(or it could be the other way around, not entirely sure). Have you tried my suggestion, trying to start it up with the video card out, and listen for beeps, then try with the video card in and the memory out. Also it wouldn't hurt to try and re-seat the CPU. The LGA775 boards have the pins in the motherboard instead of the CPU, so you may want to make sure none of the pins got bent.

Try this.

Also, when I recently built my computer with all new parts, my video wouldn't display anything either. My hardware specs are very different from yours but this may work. I had my memory in memory slot 1 (like asus recommends). Turns out that it's a bug...when I moved the memory stick to slot 2, the video worked. If I were you, I'd also check the "Motherboards" forum as it sounds like you checked mostly everything else other than your motherboard.
