While I am Christian, I wouldn't really be offended, after all it said RIGHT THERE on the cup that it is a quote from a customer and that it wasn't necessarily the opinion of Starbucks, so they were remaining neutral. But I'm sure that if another cup said something totally opposite on it some atheist would get all up in arms about it as well...

Not really. We see religious statements every day. Like on our money.

Nah, atheists are used to seeing religious stuff all over the place. I must see the words "In God we trust" at least ten times a day.

That's why I use my debit card 🙂 No forced religious messages on there!

I laughed cause it reminded me of the end of Episode 2 of Duke Nukem 3D.
"I'll rip off your head and sh!t down your throat!".

Anyone know of a good updated DN3D? Like the various Doom projects, Newdoom, etc? Somehow I really feel the urge to play it again 🙂

100% agree withthe women who was offended. That is not right, and wrong. I run a small bizz and if I ever put somthing on my priduct I would be DAMN sure I agree with it. Not right, and wrong, 100% Write them emails, and complain. Good for her.
No wonder you have a Bible quote in your signature
All day everyday Baby! God is great alwayz!
Apparently He's apparently not great enough to teach you grammar and spelling.

Perhaps if you can formulate a cogent response someone will take you seriously, but as it is you haven't established a rational basis for your position.

WOW...pull that underwear outta your BUTT! Ever think I wrote it like that on purpose...hmmm....now there's a though. 😉
Well, seeing as no intelligent person would write like that and expect to be taken as credible, I figured that I'd give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you weren't stupid enough to write that way on purpose. I will cheerfully acknowledge that it appears I was wrong there.

I am shocked and appalled, sir. Report this to your local newspaper.

Although I dont care about what is written on the cup, I voted Yes. I am not religious, but I dont want to hear random people's opinions about something I didnt ask them specifically or having a conversation with them about.
Starbucks has one of the worst coffee, why would anyone in their right mind go there. Oh because its so publicized that people assume coffee should taste like that. People who like starsucks will even go eat **** if there was chain opened for it.

A coffee cup should not be the medium for a person's opinion. People of differing opinions may also drink coffee, and thus be exposed to opinions that don't fit their world-view. Corporations like the coffee company in question are required to refrain from offending people and to avoid presenting any opinion whatsoever besides the logical "our product is good". This is to be expected, as it protects the opinions that are obviously more justified and it preserves objectivity and free will. The woman was quite justified in her rejection of said corporation.

You don't make a lot of sense up there...but your last line is valid.

If anyone doesn't like what a company does or says, then in our free country you don't have to buy their product.

However; don't tell me I cannot buy a product because you are offended by it.

She needs to go to the website and respond with thewaysheseesit

Why???

She believes in Christ.... she is apparently right and needs to be compensated for others questioning her super strong faith.

I think there's a little bit of difference between somebody questioning your faith ("Why do you believe what you believe? What has led you to this point?") and making an indirect insult ("You're an idiot because you believe in something that's a figment of your imagination.") I'm not necessarily going to start buying exclusively Tully's coffee because of this but I don't really think that particular quote was the best way to promote open, respectful conversation among a wide variety of individuals.

but it sure put starbucks name in the media spotlight didnt it?

I skipped the thread but here is my worthless opinion:

Both are wrong

The woman is making too much of a deal about this, but its not right either to have messages like that on a public cup
If it were a racist message everyone would get their panties in a bunch

Starbucks is a private company, even if publically traded. They can do what they damn well please on the level of free speech short of causing a riot.

I say private companies should also be free to determine who they serve on any basis.

this is further proof about how society needs to fight to be more secular, lets get these religious people less and less out of how things are supposed to be run and how business is supposed to be done.
