Think I'd kill myself if our ballot was that big. As it were, mine was about 10 selections deep, three of which were yes/no and another 3 with no opponent. and some how people seemed to be acting like they were writing an essay on their paper instead of filling in up to 10 damn bubbles. And let's not talk about those bringing notebook paper with them, not sure if there was an extra credit if you show your work portion I wasn't aware of.

Mine was 3 pages front and back. Senate race, assembly race, local community college thing, city council, education council or whatever, local measures, etc. It did not end.

That's because this is the first time most people even read the blurb about what they're voting on. And, due to the way some of these are written, unless you've actually read the whole freaking thing, you may be voting for the wrong thing. Yeah, democracy at work...

Let's not forget the added benefit of eradicating poor people for selling these cigarettes.
You Trump supporters must wet yourselves at the thought of poor people being treated like crap all the time.

Didn't that happen in the heart of Blue Country? I love how many poor people HRC has surrounded herself with? Net worth < $50M? Begone peasant!

There's a ballot measure to create a alternate minimum wage for workers under 18 in my state.

Ours is $7.35 ...sounds like businesses are behind this one but $1/hr isn't that much $$ overall. So what's the reasoning?

No idea. Other than someone thinking a kid busing tables isn't working as hard as the cook making food.

Looks like the Rs are being dickheads.
http://www.businessinsider.com/south-dakota-decrease-minimum-wage-2016-9

Two years ago, South Dakotans raised their state minimum wage to $8.55. The home of Mount Rushmore joined more than half of states that have increased hourly pay above the federal minimum of $7.25. But now, residents will have to decide whether employees under 18 should make $8.55 an hour or a dollar less.

Last March 2015, state leaders passed a law that would pay minors $7.50 an hour for work. South Dakota's Republican-controlled statehouse arguedlowering the wage for younger workers increases the likelihood they will get jobs and work experience.

But opponents, led by the state's Democratic party, disagree. They argue there should be one minimum wage, not one that "economically discriminates" against younger workers. And they criticize the fact the $7.50 wage will not rise with inflation like the state's higher wage for older workers.

I'd give them some slack for a 6 page ballot. A 1 and a half, not so much. Went in where the booths were 8 or 9 wide and finished mine before any that had already been there.

Went to my polling place this morning and my state rep was there handing out campaign material. I asked her if that was legal and she looks at me and points to the cone on the ground 5 feet away and says "I can do it as long as I'm outside the cone." I then asked her if campaigning "just outside the cone" was in line with the spirit of the law that bans electioneering at polling places and then she just walked away.

*Slowly backs out of thread because he don't understand yo propositions*
It varies by state and is convoluted within states. In Arizona, props can come from the legislature or by citizen petition. The legislative props are generally amendments to the state constitution which have to go as props or well crafted political theater props that force the electorate to choose between pooping peach pits or eating dog butthole sandwiches. The citizen initiatives tend to be popular ideas that can't pass the one party legislature. Citizen initiatives usually pass and legislative props usually fail as Arizona is much less whackjob conservative than you would think from watching the antics of the legislature.

This election should send a strong message to the professional victims, follow the laws or we'll choke your bitch ass out. Don't want to be choked out, quit breaking the laws. I know it's hard for the slow members of the US, but you now have to try to grasp this basic concept of civilization. No more passes for you. The charity is over!
