my son, who is now 15, came in not so long ago.
had given him at least £36 in the previous week.
thought, 'feck it'!
showed him the entire thing.
bank account, money going out 🙁
money coming in 🙂

think i wasted my bloody time 🙂

Yupp.

But I do not think you wasted your time. It just feels like it.
It is the small steps - almost miniscule - which count in the long run.

I remember when my dad did that. He said that more was going out than coming in. So the lesson that I came away with at that point, was that getting a job is useless.

So I became a slacker, to this day.

lmao!!

think i've just blown my foot off then!

Maybe you'll feel better after my story:

Good jobs are almost impossible to get now, right?
Last week, Number 1 Son (22 years) got an interview for a $75,000/year union job with great benifits; some overtime would put him over $100,000/year! (this is alot of money in this area)

They liked him, he took the written millwright test and passed 🙂

The two day "hands on" test was next. He passed the first half.

On the way out, plant security stopped him, searched his truck and found an opened pint between the seats.

No alcohol allowed on company property.

Only a priest, his mother and maybe his father might believe that a friend left it there unbeknownst to him.

This Army National Guard soldier was in tears when I got home so I couldn't strangle him.
What can you do but move on and try to not think about it? (which as you see I am not good at)

That really sucks, but like you said you just have to move on. I wish him all the luck in getting a new and BETTER job!

Man that is horrible. But why the heck would they search his truck??? That seems really odd to me.

Sorry! He really is a great kid, but it seems he has to learn everything the hard way 🙁

OK then how about this:
Number 2 Son (19 years), who finished his first year of college while still in high school and has a 3.5 GPA in his second year at the college, got a job last November at a department store making minimum wage (just over $7/hour) has saved > 90% of his wages so he can buy his own car for when he goes to University next fall! He already has $4,000! in a sock!! Every few weeks he pulls it out and counts it, hehe, the piles of cash take up the whole table! 🙂

That's really too bad for him, but I truely believe that everything happens for a reason. Unfortunately when we're in the middle of it we don't see it as a blessing. Something better will come along for him 🙂
