Little Nugget's awful awful burger. $3.50 with a ton of fries.

uhm...is that awful=good or like really, its bad...coz if its worth 2xawfuls...the fries ain't gonna bring me there.

Good, well, any food tasted great after losing a few hundred. I tell you, those Asian woman dealers, they always win.

VC is maybe a 30/45 minute drive from Reno. Go south down 395, take the "Carson City" exit, turn left onto SR 341 at the light, drive a ways. The view is pretty nice as you're going up, but it's a truck route so it's kinda windy. VC is pretty straightforward to navigate; it's laid out like a grid. A tilted grid, true, but a grid all the same.

Agreed! My game of choice. Last time I had 8 gin n tonics and won $50 before I couldn't read my cards. It's a really easy game to pick up.

Heh, I'm in Reno every couple months. When my parents get free rooms or when the coworkers get the urge to do some skiing, I'm there. If you like pho, there's another place across from Circus Circus, think it's called Golden Flower (google for it). My mom won't eat at the buffets so I trust her taste. She likes Golden Flower better than 777.

The chinese food in Reno is crap. The cafeteria inside Eldorado actually has some of the better chinese in town (remember when in doubt, follow the chinese people). Get the tofu, it's fresh. I get the mongolian beef or beef tofu, it's the closest thing to real chinese food you'll find.

I like the buffet at Harrah's (it's better in Lake Tahoe though). The Atlantis is good too esp if you like seafood. For late-night snacking I usually get whatever's the special at Silver Legacy or Harrah's ($6 prime rib or whatnot), the cafes aren't that bad. Some people like the Fri night lobster buffet at Boomtown, but the lobsters are really small.

As far as gambling goes, you don't sound like you're a big money player. The cheapest tables you'll find are at Circus Circus, Eldorado, and Hilton (they don't serve Corona at Hilton though, go figure).

For skiing your best bet is either North Star or Squaw Valley. Boreal is $10 w/ student ID on Fridays. I'd only go on Fri though cuz it's a rip to pay full price for a place that small.

Golden Flower is indeed pretty damn tasty, but 777 has the tastiest Spring Rolls I've ever had. Of course there's no rule that says you can only eat at one Pho restaurant while you're in Reno, except maybe the rule that says if you put enough food in your stomach eventually you will vomit. 😛

btw, no pic taking in casinos true or not?
Only of certain things. Casinos are part show, part "swindle you out of money". As long as you aren't taking pictures of all the security areas you should be fine.

Flash is prohibited in the gaming areas, out of concern that it can blind the security cameras.

hehe..back..no pics sorry.

so i went to kim son first night...not impressed. There were 9 of us..EVERYONE said bad so not just me. 😛

went for lunch 2nd day at pho777...dayuum this place is a real hole in wall and packed as hell but food and portions were good and CHEAP.

went to Atlantis...and ate at the Oyster bar restaurant. Prices were VERY, VERY reasonable. Large portions and fresh seafood. Tried the pan roast seafood thingie..hardly ate half of it...DID I GET THE WRONG ONE?! It was orange in color, VERY RICH, sour and sweet. Everyone who tried it was like WTF!? Scampi was good and portions were very generous. Shrimps were size of my fist!
Again, WTF?...ORANGE sour SOUP with scallops and shrimp=pan roast. 🙁
Whats the problem with it man??.. :|

OK..before we got to the oyster bar i made a mistake and ventured to the Atlantis Steakhouse instead. Very expensive, most high end restaurant in that resort ...well, it was Christmas eve so i thought its worth the splurge...went in and was told by the maitre'd that it would be 1.30hr wait!!...it was only 7pm so we're looking at 8:30pm. Slim chance but decided to put our names down anyway...she then said i had to give her my CC for the reservation. I have been to some high end joints before but never have i ever been asked to 'hand over' my cc for this. Which means i would have to return to get it back if we changed our minds. Is that normal? Anyway, we split(gladly so). There was another big group in front of us..i was really tempted to ask them if they had to do the same thing. A smaller group arrived right after and was told they would be seated in a few...no reservations either. 😕

Atlantis is tight!...drooling over the women and waitresses there is a good pastime 😀
i'm gonna stay there the next time we go there...o yeh..i lost around $40 on slots. 🙁
never stay in Golden Phoenix again!

thanks for all the tips..very nice cousins.

That's the right pan roast you got. It's a weird name, I know, but that's it. Tomato + Garlic + Cream + Seafood. Unfortunately it's an artform trying to make it, so if you get new cooks working there it can come out tasting... well... like ketchup. Or it may not be your thing. Some people love it, some people hate it. I personally love it, but that's me. Fortunately the Oyster Bar has no shortage of other tasty goodness. The Scampi is indeed delicious.

A lot of places do the CC reservation thing because the richy-riches expect it. It makes them feel all hoighty-toighty and superior -- as if lighting cigars with money wasn't enough -- so that's why the "high-class" restaurants do it.

I would have to say the Atlantis is the best casino in Reno. Sure, it's not downtown, but it's got great food and great motif(sp?). Very relaxing.

Kim Son... yeah, only certain things are really good there, other stuff is kinda "ehhhh". Never get the Pho soups at Kim Son, save for the chicken one. Always go 777. By the way, what'd you get?

Anywho, glad you enjoyed it. If you ever go back you should check out Pirate's Pizza, especially if you stay at the Atlantis, as you'll be within walking distance.
