An excellent title to a provocative topic.

Another apt description of rampant greed disguised as free-market capitalism by certain vested interests is 'Of the Corporations, By the Corporations, and For the Corporations'!

Unfortunately, using organized religion didactically, the plutocratic society that is prevalent in most of the world today controls the mindset of the commoner, I mean, the useful idiot(s).

You explain why you have this entitlement mentality yourself of why you think you are more deserving then someone else of another country with more ability then you.

So you think because you actually HAD TO WORK you are privileged? We all have to work dumbass and yes, being a white male (you pointed it out!) does have many advantages in this country. If you dont realize it your either blind or an asshole. Take your pick.

No one gives a shit if you had to work and struggle, everyone does, unless you are the rich or born into money. And sorry, you were not. Welcome to the other 99%. Guess what, the 1% is not lettign you into their club no matter how much ass you kiss, your chances to get anywhere in life are millions to one. Might as well deal with it and try to make the best for yourself and your fellow people while doing your best. Dreaming of "winning the lottery" is childish. Basing your freaking ideology off such slim chances is infantile.

It's like a slave cowering to his mastah because they own the kitchen when the whole time the kitchen can be used by anyone Hell, the slaves built the house and it was funded by their labor. You are stuck on the plantation buddy.

The problem arises when you assume that the people on welfare deserve the hand-out they receive because they might have worked at some time in their life. WRONG! they deserve nothing because they don't work, they're content to be given just enough money to live at the poverty line rather then go out and bust their ass to be someone who adds to the economy rather than take from it!!!

Stop evading my point. I clearly wrote "our version of a free market." And frankly, I don't care what you call it.

The point I made, and the point you're unable to address because you've got your ideology so far up you ass that your brain is frozen, is that our system - WHATEVER YOU CALL IT - is failing a very large and growing portion of the populace. What's clearly the case is that power and influence and wealth are becoming ever more concentrated in the hands of the few, yet the right can't grovel far or fast enough to change our laws so as to deliver ever more advantage to the wealthy.

actually most of the action in the % of wealth growth over the last 15 or 20 years has been in the 95th-98th percentile.

IMHO one of the biggest pushes is the poor voting as if they were wealthy and acting as if they are.

Status creep as a profound affect on things, but at the end of the day those people are still making the same money.

Where the hell did you get the mistaken idea that "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" means "only for the tiny fraction of the population for which these are practicable?"

Do you really think that the Constitution lays out abstract principles that lead us wherever they may, regardless of how bad things get?

The point of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is that everyone is guaranteed the right to apply for a job so they can work for a living and accrue nice things, not that it is guaranteed to be given those things without work! There is no guarantee of free healthcare in the Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. No where does it say if you are born in the United States you are guaranteed a life of leisure, the only guarantee is that you can work toward a better life, not be handed one because someone else has a lot of money and "could" be giving some of it to you!

Unless you do it the old fashioned way, inherit it. (or live off playing with others money and labor) Right comrade?

If Workers needed leisure we would have been rich. Now back to work!

This trend of lionizing investors as drivers of growth is really irritating to me. Investment is largely a consequence of, and not a driver of, growth. Growth that potentially exists does so because of a demand. Investment follows demand. Consumption is the ultimate driver of growth.

which is why successful economies have a wealth redistribution system built in to keep lower and middle class people consuming.

And to keep them from slaughtering the Rich.

what irritates me is the GOP's view of consumption is nothing more than one big business selling to another...

resulting in nothing more than the elitist circlejerk which gives coprorate owners/execs and wall street traders a chub.
