Of Apples and Audis

not really. S4 starts at 45K. M3 sedan starts at 55K. 335xi sedan starts at 42K. So the S4 is closer to 335 than M3 in terms of price

You're hitting the nail closer on the head. The S4 competes with the 335 and the RS4 is the one with its sights aimed at the M3.

At least Toyota makes a good beater, I'll be enjoying a Lotus or a BMW shortly. :awe:

WAIT - BMWs don't always look the same?????????
And NOT premium priced?????????

Hell, at least Audi doesn't cripple their motor and offer it for the same price (N55 Engine) and take their older motor and sell it for $10000 more (N54 is.)

Lotus's are cool tho. But I'd compare the douchebagginess of a Lotus on par with an Apple.

No, that's the S5. Who the hell wants an A5?

The S5 and its wonderful V8 holds value probably due largely to threat of being discontinued.

Did you miss the part where Audi as a brand was ranked #3 in luxury brands for residual value. I'd say their whole line is doing well.

I am dismayed by Audi dropping the V6 from their A4 lineup. I hate the inline 4 turbo's.
But I am not entirely sure Audi is selling speed in their lineup but luxury. They have specified models for performance like the S4, RS4, RS6, and RS8. Which are actually pretty powerful cars. My buddies dad has a 2005 RS6. I think it has over 500HP in I believe a V10.
Fastest sedan I have ever been in.

Is Apple as unreliable as Audi/VW as well? Or is that the first differance?

Having owned two Audi's. I would say their wheel bearings need major work. But I have had a lot of luck with their engines. Currently running past 180K on my 01 A4 and the thing runs better than my sisters 09 fords. And my previous car a 1993 90CS had 173K on it when I traded it in on my current car.

Well, both are pretty well designed - a large part of which is having employees who care spend time and attention to getting things right.

My friend and his wife walked onto an Audi dealer lot in Orange County but they couldn't even get a test drive in any of their cars. It was almost as if the sales idiots there thought they weren't good enough to drive one of their cars.

So, he bought a brand new 650i the next week instead.

Apple should be compared with Mercedes, since they are the innovators. Ex. Mercedes patented airbags, traction control, crumple zones, electronic stability control, anti lock brakes, honeycomb radiator, safety cell design etc.. hell, they developed the first internal combustion engined vehicle in 1886 known as the Motorwagen or "first car ever made". Just like Apple introduced the MP3 concept with the iPod and the touch screen phones etc...

Sarcasm?

Apple did not invent the MP3 player just as Mercedes did not invent most of the things you pointed out as well.

That's why I was listening to MP3s on my Rio and had touch screen HTCs about 5 years before Apple did shit right?

huh? MP3 concept? MP3s date back to the early to mid 90s. My first MP3 was acquired in Dec of 1996.

My problem with Mercedez is their image was tarnished with the merger with Chrysler. When I look at their vehicles now I see a cheap boxy looking american car.

I received the same treatment from Porsche/Audi dealer. Was trying to sell me used stuff and obviously didn't take me seriously. Wouldn't listen to me and show me what I wanted and was just a dick.

Mercedes dealer took us seriously and treated us very nicely, never talking down to us, even though we are very young (in our 20s) and don't dress the yuppy role. Ended up buying a G class and M class from them.

I'm happy though as I feel both Lexus and Audi SUVs are a little egg shaped. The Cayenne is more of a girl car too, even though I still like it. BMW SUVs look boxy and I *hate* their taillights.

I do like some BMW/Audi/Porsche cars, but I really do think 2009 and 2010 Mercedes SUVs are the best looking of the bunch.

Also, Land Rover = overpriced and not luxury. I had the urge to pop out of the sunroof and wave my AK around when test driving it.

Better get your facts straight. Mercedes gave some of its tech (example, the only reason the Chrysler 300 isn't a steaming pile of shit is because of its Mercedes injected DNA) but didn't really use anything from Chrysler.

There is no Chrysler anything involved in any Mercedes vehicle.

The merger with Chrysler was so that Chrysler could get some of Mercedes technology. Hence, why the 300C is based on the old E Class. Even though Mercedes has moved a long way from that platform in their newest vehicles, Chrysler still uses it.

Jesus, when the hell have you ever seen a girl driving a Cayenne? I have not.
