OEM ZUNE....LOL 129.00

It's based on Gigabeat hardware, but it's been modified A LOT. Not the same as a Zune.

Good player though.

Agree.... the most noticeable change being the plus sign control instead of the wheel.

Oh no doubt. But it is a fact that the gigabeat was used as the baseline for the zune

Zune doesn't have a wheel... it's the same as the plus, just in a circle.

You sir, are correct.

That is a Gigabeat F series, not the S series which the Zune is based off. I have a 20gb F series and it has been great for the last year and a half. Battery lasts about 16 hours and the screen is really nice looking, it doesn't play videos though.

I just picked up the Zune sitting in front of me to check 😉

My impression from reviews was that the toshiba was pretty bad. Maybe even horrible. Should I cont reading? If its not horribly flawed it should be good for the price.

It's not horrible, I've had it for a year and a half and use it almost everyday at work. You have to use Toshiba's software or WMP to load music and WMP is only USB 1.1 but the Toshiba software works quite well, I just open the software and drag and drop albums from my music. If you have an album cover in the folder with the music it will associate it with that album and the art is displayed on the now playing screen and while scrolling through albums. My only problems with it are that Toshiba protects the music you load onto it so you can't put it on another PC and there isn't a good way to queue up music to be played.

Is there some software out there that would allow you to download your music off the Player and onto a PC?

So you cannot copy mp3's to the unit? They must be trans/mangled through a software connection to be put on the unit? I guess thats still fairly functional but boy I sure hate that. Anyone hacking this thing yet?

Rockbox has been working on it, though it is still early. The mp3s aren't reencoded, they just have some protection added so you can't copy them to another pc.
