yup just tried and was denied. Still denied after i singed up for the deals email. I guess they keep track of when you signed up and when the deal was sent out. 🙁

Back on the fence

Damn, I bought it just because I have the promo code.
I don't even really need it. Anyone want to buy an AMD64 3000+ 😀 ??

You guys may know this, but I did not. I just looked on the AMD web page, and it says there is no AMD warranty on tray processors. Only a warranty on boxed processors. I always thought that OEM had a 1 year warranty. Newegg does have a 30 day return policy on it though, and you can purchase an extended warranty. Overclocking may void the warranty though, if they could tell. For myself, when I overclock, I don't expect any warranty.

Yep, very typical 30 day warranty for OEM. Actually many etailers only have a 15 day warranty on OEM. Tiger Direct has NO OEM warranty unless you buy a qualifying heatsink at the same time as your OEM CPU purchase. :disgust:
And yes, OEM chips are sometimes DOA, just ask Somniferum who bought the 3800 toledo in this thread

just firing up one that arrived yesterday, a toledo, and it looks klike it won't even do 2.4... the one i got a couple weeks ago did 2.5... time to try the second one i just got... bummer on this one... going from a single core @3.0 less than 2.4 is not an upgrade...
