OEM X2 3800 Skt 939 $90 @ Newegg, free shipping

AMD disables it to be a L2 Cache of 2 x 512KB. Still a good CPU. I just overclocked one to 2.6GHz on stock volts.

Yeah, the Toledos were originally shipping with half their cache disabled, not sure if that is still true or they changed their manufacture process.

This shows the only difference is the stepping.

Although I do remember some talk about how the Manchester is supposed to run cooler, but I can't recall where I read it.

Ours idles at 40C, but it's a very warm 80F degree room. No cool and quiet running. But even with dual Orthos running, it's at 55C. That's OK. Very stable overclock of 2.6GHz.

I've bought 2 of these to upgrade PCs at my house with 939 boards in them. Great CPUs, both OC'd to 2.5GHz with stock voltage, one is running at 2.7Ghz with stock. Can't really beat the price, these things run at E6300 speeds without a problem for a little less cash, and a lot less if you're sitting on an older 939 setup.

i bought a toledo a month ago, it's running @2.5... ordered a couple more last weekend to retire all my single core boxes... we'll see how they do by this weekend...

I guess you choose Toledo or Manchester based on who you believe. Makes me wonder. I seem to recall them making nothing but Manchester cores for the 3800 X2 about a year ago, now we see these Toledo cores. The one we received from Newegg was made in week 32 of 2006. Maybe these were leftover Toledo cores from the 4600 X2, etc. Perhaps that's why they overclock well? Seems strange they would go to the Manchester core to save money, then go back to the Toledo core again. Or maybe I'm full of it and have no idea what I'm talking about........

Anyone see any mention of the warranty on the Newegg page? It's usually 1 year for OEM. I'm going to suggest this to someone, but they will want a warranty. Yes, I know, no warranty on overclocked chips.

I've been watching these chips. Last night the Toledo spiked to 118.99 and Manchester stayed at 89.00. I freaked and picked up the Manchester😀. Today I get the 10.00 off email code for the Toledo :brokenheart:

WTF? It always happens that way🙁

Several good things though I was able to use my 15.00 Paypal to get the Manchester down to 81.00 shipped but 71.00 shipped would of been even sweeter.

So being the cheap bastard I'am I got on with live chat and kicked and scream until the operator gave in and is gonna credit me 10.00 bucks for my next order:thumbsup:

I thanked her/him and logged onto here to share my story.

Dude that $15 from paypal was a "rebate" from an old purchase, you don't save $15 twice. So what you paid is really what you paid, or whatever you bought before was actually $15 more than what you thought you paid.

Huh? I paid for the new cpu through Paypal. I used the 15.00 credited from the Paypal rebate deal months ago. So in short I applied the 15.00 to the new purchase.
Manchester cpu=89.99+ Tax= 96.xx. Apply the free 15.00 rebate from Paypal= 81.xx.

Now, I tried to get Newegg to credit me back 10.00 because a new coupon code for 10.00 off the Toledo Core. Newegg would not do it and said I would have to refuse the package. I don't want to refuse, but Newegg will credit me 10.00 towards my next purchase. Got it?

I was going to pass on this deal until I had some money but with that price drop and the $10.00 savings thrown in I am thinking about getting in on this and get some more life out of my system for a while.

I need a promo code. If some one could PM me I would really appriciate it.

The $10 will push me off the fence 🙂

Got the code but dosn't work since i wasn't setup to recieve the news letter

Thanks

I went with the Toledos, dunno much about the other ones, but the Toledos are nice OC'er, 25-50%, depending on how high you want to push your voltage and your cooling.
