Just got in on the OEM X-Fi XtremeMusic model # SB0670 for $55. The output sound of the card is so much better than my onboard, even with not so great speakers. I'm having a problem though, getting the microphone working from the Flexijack port on the card. I've tried the latest drivers from Creative's site (2.09.0007 for WinXP) and the drivers from the retail CD. My current settings are in the screenshots below. If anyone has any suggestions on any other settings to try, or knows if this card just doesn't support the mic by hardware, please chime in.

Thanks.

It supports microphone. I have one myself. I'm not on my main PC right now that has the same card in it. IIRC, the red X means mute that you have on the microphone on the console pic. So, unmute it.

Unmuted the microphone setting in the game mode console and tried to use all the same settings in entertainment mode with no luck. I just took the card out and verified that the mic is working using my onboard AC97. Any other settings you know of that I could try?

What driver version are you using? I'm currently using the driver from the retail CD and device manager reports that it's version 5.12.2.1143 dated 8/8/2005. Looks like the game console is version 1.00.32 and the entertainment console is version 1.00.31.

The flexijack will not work for mic for me either. I have tested the side white 10 pin connector and that does work for mic. I tried using an input from my guitar amp in the flexijack and that worked so it is detecting our mic and just disabling it. I believe this is because it is made to be hooked up to front audio ports.

If you look at the black (may be white) 10 pin connector on the side of your card, and look at pin 8 I believe (this is the mic mute pin), there are 2 traces running into this pin. Both traces run to solder pads. One set of solder pad's is bridged while the other is not. I think this may have to do with the back flexijack being muted but I am not sure.

I don't think this is something that drivers can fix. Now we just need to figure out if bridging that second trace will enable the mic. Anyone want to fry their card testing my theory? :D

anyone go for the bridging? I've tried creative tech support, and since its OEM, they run on a "not my problem" level...

Not having a mic is killing me :(

Hi ppl,

I bought a few weeks ago a X-Fi Extrem Music and when I installed I had this problem. The mic was not working for me.
If you notice on Windows Update, there is a drive update for the X-Fi, did you try that?
Because I just got it fixed with a fresh install of Windows.

BTW, I am using Win XP Pro x64.

To those looking for the drivers for this oem card they may be the HP ones at this link:

Vista:

XP:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizs...c=US&swItem=wk-41674-1

Older version XP:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizs...c=US&swItem=wk-39295-1

OEM's are supposed to be only Dell or HP and I've seen people only trying the Creative or Dell drivers to get the flexjack working. Maybe these will help. Do a search while in there for lots of other info on this card.

You can't mute the mic and have it running on the main section at the same time. I can't show you this because XP has decided that my sound card isn't installed... Edit: Put the Line In for the secondary playback channel, muted and have the Mic unmuted on the REC playback channel. Sets the card to accept the incoming signal without feedback.

I think I know what could be the problem here.
Actualy I had similiar problem with mic in my retail xfi xtreme music, no help nor even response from Creative side, but after spending like year searching for resolution I actualy found it was also known problem of certain Live cards. The thing is in both them and early series of xtreme music, Creative used 600ohm flexijack while majority of pc mics has 2000ohms or more. This means you need mic with impedance as close to 600ohms as possible (the higher the more silent it will be).
I personaly got cheap standing 600ohm Vakoss for like 2 bucks, and saw similiar Genius that was called Sensitivity or something like that also with 600ohms. Couldnt find any usable clip on mic which I prefer tho :p

I know this is an extremely old thread, but just wanted to let anyone know (in case you recently bought the OEM HP SB0670 off Anandtech for $30!) I got this card working with Win7 pro x64 today! After a couple days of forum searching and driver testing, I found that this card is a clone of the SB0460 (X-Fi Extreme Music) which you can download the Win7 drivers directly from Creatives page. What I used was: SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0015.exe

Didn't use the Creative CD / hacked support.cab files I've seen a lot of people had thrown around to filefront etc. I don't like trying that type of thing for fear of Malware, etc. Tried a number of drivers off HP and Creatives sites, which could not find a supported product, but this one finally worked! Good luck
