Just curious if anybody got the same CPU from Monarch recently.

What stepping and any OC stats would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Edit

Received a

CBBWE 0546XPMW

Should I be happy or sad, I need to do some research then plug it in to see.

Update:

Pretty happy so far 2550 at def Vcore.

no..just there does not seem to any sense to the steppings ....maybe the 170s will be different..you expect newer chips and dates..ie 0541, 0546....

The older chips should be better bcuz they were made/tested b4 non-business consumers started flocking to the opterons? Hopefully the fact that so many people are going opteron doesn't give AMD an excuse to skimp on testing. It's still classified as a server chip after all.

EDIT: Caught a typo. Nast buggers >:O

they will not skimp on the opteron...we are too small of a niche market to make they cut corners on a server based chip..that cant fail...

have you ventured to the monarch forums lately...they have a few unhappy people, specially in regards to getting their products out and getting the rma's back to the owners...

Guess its bound to happen especially with Xmas coming on

In regards to your post, yes I have. I recieved my dfi + opteron combo the 26th of Nov. Struggled getting it to post. RMA'd it and they got it back the 12th of Dec. Hope I get it back before Xmas but I am not counting on it. From my way of thinking its a bad board everything else panned out, we shall see....

You never know untill you try them. I got a 0541 170 retail from Newegg a month ago, at the time peeps were saying that the 0541 were not good oc'ers. Anyway this one is now at 2600 (10x260) still at 1.35(*104%) although CPUz shows 1.36/1.37 under load. As my price/performance goal was 2400 I'm very pleased at my foray into the Opty world:)
Another thing was the memory, I "skimped" and bought that GSkill ZX Pc3200/2-3-2-5 that the egg had on sale, figure it would have to use a divider at anything over stock, now it's running at 260 1/1 albeit at 3-3-3-7 timings.
So anyway you never know, crank it up and g'luck.

Just picked mine up at FedEx a few minutes ago. Ordered during Monarch's "24 Hour Sale" that seemed to last quite a bit longer than 24 hours (and have prices change during the sale).

I was expecting the same stepping everyone else seems to be getting when they ordered during that sale: CBBWE 0546XPMW

What did I get? A plastic shell, scotch-taped closed. Removed the tape to find...

CCBWE 0530TPMW

.

.

.

Um... WHAT????? :Q

Okay, so I know that is the dream stepping that everyone has been searching high and low for, but how in the heck did I get that from them now?

My inner cynic is suspicious, so I can't let myself celebrate until I get this thing running and see what it can do when I get home from the office.
